The pride of the fleet for STL Linehaul; Black Stallion's Daddy. Driver Craig keeps it in immaculate condition and was more than happy to park it up for a photo.

A short-turn point for the STL waiting in a side road. The back scene is carefully constructed from suitable photos and glued to the backboard painted with paint from a sky blue B&Q matchpot. Figures are from Preiser who seem to supply people of all sorts of shapes and sizes, just like real ones!

Carrying a standard roofbox STL body, with the reduced blind display that was introduced during wartime (the country area retained the use of the roofbox), this rather smart EFE model was a cheap Ebay purchase.

It's seen here in the company of a Corgi 4Q4.

The St. Lawrence and Hudson railway, was a subsidiary of the Canadian Pacific Railway that covered all CPR assets between Quebec City and Chicago. StL&H became operational on October 1, 1996 and continued until January 1, 2001.

Another experimental shot of my 'work in progress' "Princes Park". STL 2093 waits on the stand outside the garage. The 83 would have been operated by G's at this time - but here STL's have taken over!

I've been researching appropriate advertisements suitable for London STLs during WW2.

With the paucity of period colour views, some degree of research is required.

The two side adverts here are wartime propaganda. In the foreground is the EFE supplied 'Less Shopping, More Shipping, Behind is 'the sky's the limit for War Savings' that I have prepared. The various views I found show both of these posters to customarily be very weather worn - probably due to the use of low quality paper. It remains to be seen if I can bear to weather these accordingly!

Here I have prepared the 'War Savings' on the far vehicle. The one in the foreground is the EFE wartime vehicle fitted with a nearside 'Black & White' advert.

Seems about right.

I was thrilled by my TPE prediction that the super-moon on August 10 would align well with the downtown street grid at a 2° angle above horizon, making it a perfect opportunity for a "STL-lunar-henge" shot. However, nasty clouds lingered on the horizon that evening and ruined it all. This is what I got the next day - the moon was much higher and already waning. A "lunar-henge" is rarer and more difficult to predict than a "sonar-henge", I don't know if I will get another chance in the foreseeable future.

A dying breed, STL&H leads a solid intermodal train on the Belleville Subdivision through Newtonville Ontario. These SD40-2's are becoming a thing of the past.
