So this is my last photo of 2015. It's the milky way over the sihl valley in schwyz. It was so amazing beeing there all alone with a very impressing sky full of stars over me.
I wish you all a happy 2016!

A night under the stars last night. I don't get to do this kind of photography much so when the conditions are right you have to make the most of them so headed to Egton on the North York Moors in the early hours to capture the Milky Way. Also got to see the International Space Station flying right overhead going 20,000mph lit up like a xmas tree. Awesome!
Here's a wonderful patch of space, The Great Cluster in Hercules. 300,000 stars squashed into a ball, orbiting our galaxy. Estimated to be nearly 12 billion years old, almost as old as the universe. What would the night sky look like if you lived there? Does it ever get dark?

Questo spettacolare ponte di granito sembra unire il cielo e la terra da dimensioni parallele...

God asks Job where he was when the foundations of the earth were laid, "When the morning stars sang together, and when all the sons of God shouted for joy" - Job 38:7
I try not to complain about the weather, because there is opportunity in all of it... however, I have to admit that I was grateful to see the stars again. Tracked/Stacked/Blended.
Had a go at replacing the sky again on this one, being as the rocks gave me a really easy outline. But to keep it as close to reality as possible, the stars are blurred exactly as they were in the original - the only reason this wasn't possibly in the original was a) the North Star is a bit higher than that, it'd be about at the top of the image in this, and b) it was like 3am and we were ready to head home!
The upside is that because the stars were taken outside the house, that I could leave the camera until the batteries died, which impressively was about 10 1/2 hours. Although I did do a quick swap half way in, still not bad in freezing weather though.
This is another for a friend's music art, so I don't feel bad about the compositing, because even though it's almost real, that's not what I was going for. The idea is it looks good on Spotify on your phone:)

"When the words weigh heavy on the heart
I am lost and led only by the stars
Cage me like an animal
A crown with gems and gold
Eat me like a cannibal
Chase the neon throne
Breathe in, breathe out
Let the human in
Breathe in, breathe out
And let it in
Plants awoke and they slowly grow
Beneath the skin"
