Shot at the Taj Kumarakom, Kerala. The stars here are the earthen oil lamps that are lit every evening on the boundary of the lagoon which is inside the property. The structures seen here are the luxury rooms facing the lagoon.

This is another image of a lightning strike and the open sky and stars above the storm. This photo was from a series of shots taking during this silent storm (no thunder) while myself and some friends were camping at Benezette, PA last month. The rain came after the light show had left. While it was occurring it was so cool. The sky had such a contrast from storm clouds to clear and starry.

Description: Long exposure captures stunning star trails circling above a traditional stone hut in Extremadura,s countryside.

The sun dips low in Portixol, casting a fiery glow over the seaside district of Palma de Mallorca. The sunset is an ember in the sky, igniting the clouds and sea with warm hues. Silhouetted figures and palms are etched against the evening canvas, capturing a moment of tranquility at day's end. The gentle lapping of the water whispers farewell to the light, embracing the onset of twilight. It's a time when the bustle of the day yields to the calm of approaching night, leaving only the beauty of fading light and the promise of a starlit sky.

p.s. I didn't retouch her eyes at all! They are that very color and very clear like that. The only edition was an over all color tweaking and a tiny wee little bit of sharpening. I didn't even edit her skin in this photo.

Gooseberry Falls State Park, after midnight, with a nearly full moon illuminating the landscape. The 20-second exposure smoothed the water going over the falls, giving it a silky smooth appearance. First time shooting the Falls at night, turned out to be great way to shoot the falls--after the snow flurries passed. :-)

Emmeline laughed with delight as she stepped into the cavern, her starlit gaze lighting up upon discovering the swarm of azure butterflies fluttering about the interior. With one outstretched hand, the winter princess formed a glowing globe of ice at her fingertip, watching it pulse and dance along with the beating wings all around her.

Ever since her exile from the Winter Court, she'd felt better and better, embracing the Seelie half of her heritage and truly blossoming into an heir worthy of the Seelie King. Where there was once a stoic, reserved girl who never let anyone in, there was now a vibrant, and much more open young woman who was finding out the joy of true love, and what embracing her passionate side felt like.

The globe of ice continued to dance upon her fingertip while the butterflies gathered to her, creating a swirling storm of wings that resembled the ice crystals adorning her body. In that moment, Emmeline knew peace, and harmony with the little creatures she shared the cavern with.

This file had been sitting on my hard drive for, I think, 4 years now. The comp is similar to a sunset that I took the same day, but this image was taken later as twilight set in. I've really been out of it photography wise for the past 3 years and I made a promise to myself to change that when we moved back to WA. I'm really excited to take T and Kelc on these adventures too. Fatherhood has taught me to really focus on what's important in life and to not get lost in the day to day grind.

The Milky Way Starlit Sky in Blayney, Central West, NSW, Australia.

My view hiking along the Appalachian Trail on a misty August morning while returning from a visit to Little Hump Mountain.

It's not always this serene in the Roan Highlands on the high ridges of the North Carolina, Tennessee border.

I've been on this trail in so many kinds of weather; I remember hiking early on crisp autumn mornings under a starlit sky, late one summer night after a moonlight photoshoot with my friend Dale we got caught here in a drenching thunderstorm, I've been here in the wintertime after dark during a full blizzard whiteout and on a quiet moonlit night with only the sound of my boots making a crunching sound in the snow.

Many times I remember being there very early in the cool and misty mornings before daylight with the hooting sound of an owl echoing through the forest below.

What a place to find peace sometimes and other times to stir the senses.

Black rhinos and elephants gather to drink when all is calm at the waterhole. Witnessing these large beasts tread silently through a starlit sky is a spiritual encounter.

Mt Somerville communications dome is visible on the horizon with the denser part of the Milky Way to the right.
