After a busy week of photography I decided to head for Staple Tor on Dartmoor for some fresh air and exercise. Initially I had considered setting up my camera for star trails but it would have meant staying on Dartmoor long into the night. Instead I opted for a few quick landscape shots and then busy myself with some creative photography in the form of a new profile picture… perhaps my next upload to flickr? Thanks for looking. Mk

Another one of my staple abstracts I took a few weeks ago...

This time I set up stacks on my laptop and that is what the checkered design is underneath the staples themselves haha.

Day 8

If only everyone in the world could have at least enough food to live. If only the New Year could be better for all.

Up north, along the westcoast of Öland, you will find this.

Hundreds of stapled sandstones along the coast.

Went up to Staple Tor more in hope than expectation as a cloudbank had come in from the Southwest . It was my first visit to this location and I was determined to get more than just the "standard" shot (although I did rattle off one or two of those as well). We had no direct light from the sun as it set, so no real "golden hour", but we were treated to a decent red sky once the sun had gone down. I really liked this location and the solitude it provided. I think I will be back.

Week 1: Reflection

This is take 2. I spent ages on this, but learnt a lot.

I originally saw it done in a photography magazine, so not my idea.

Staples built around 1997. Former location of a gigantic Albertsons Payless combo store.

Pleasant Hill, California

I love all the London suburbs, more or less unconditionally. Somebody did ask me recently which was my least favourite part of London. After some thought I concluded that it was Staples Corner. It is essentially just a series of road junctions where the M1 and the A5 meet the North Circular Road. It's certainly the least pedestrian-friendly place

A hazy Spring sunset over Staple Tor and a distant Brentor. Thanks for looking - Mk

Back in the day when we were kids, my friends used to make these for use in their pranks. The most common version was when they would leave a few on someone's chair. Needless to say it was a painful experience for whoever the target was....

Fence wire on a post

An early morning trek to a frosty Staple Tor for a sunrise shoot, unfortunately there was very little cloud around. At least there was no wind and the sun soon warmed us up. Best on Black.

Macro Monday ~ The Office

A Tudor building in Holborn, London. It has its own Wikipedia entry.

I am a slob. A total, complete, and embarrassing slob. This is a shot I took while waiting for the charcoal to heat up. Looking down at the deck you can see the ash, some garden staples, and some siding I have gotten out to repair the side of the house (the original siding was blown off in a tornado).

Fastener

sta·ple1 /ˈstāp(ə)l/ noun

a piece of thin wire with a long center portion and two short end pieces that are driven by a stapler through sheets of paper to fasten them together.

I did not realize that staples could become magnitized.

I had a heck of a time getting them to stay where I wanted and then discovered that dust and lint loved them.

Today's theme - Pareidolia. I see a face in the stapler strike plate, and then in the other image the staple remover. HMM :)

Stability, prosperity!

A nice hike during darkness, in the hope of something special. The rain and wind came and then cleared just as the sun rose, this was the result; The granite stacks of Great Staple Tor at sunrise, Dartmoor National Park. Thanks for looking :-)
