The Ethiopian grain teff is cultivated by farmers in Ethiopia. It is an essential staple food and main ingredient of Injera, a flatbread made of sourdough. In other regions, the harvest is very low compared to other grains. So teff has fallen over the centuries in the rest of the world into oblivion.
I played with staples on a lightbox for textures, shadows, and composition. So many options for something so simple and small.
One of the best aspects Great Staple Tor has to offer and finally the light to justify shooting it. The rock formations of Staple Tor make it my favourite tor, I just wish it was further from the road so that it wasnt everyone elses favourite!

Story:
It was a really late night (or early morning depending on how you look at it) and my mind went crazy. I did a portrait shoot with a stapler using paper as a cyc wall, a china ball as the soft light and the glow from my computer screen as the backlight...and I digress.

The helpful vet elves went with Bentley today to get his staples out but since they still have covid protocols in place we had to sit in the car and wait - when we got home the elves got their picture with him :D

After a busy week of photography I decided to head for Staple Tor on Dartmoor for some fresh air and exercise. Initially I had considered setting up my camera for star trails but it would have meant staying on Dartmoor long into the night. Instead I opted for a few quick landscape shots and then busy myself with some creative photography in the form of a new profile picture… perhaps my next upload to flickr? Thanks for looking. Mk

This time I set up stacks on my laptop and that is what the checkered design is underneath the staples themselves haha.
If only everyone in the world could have at least enough food to live. If only the New Year could be better for all.

Hundreds of stapled sandstones along the coast.
Went up to Staple Tor more in hope than expectation as a cloudbank had come in from the Southwest . It was my first visit to this location and I was determined to get more than just the "standard" shot (although I did rattle off one or two of those as well). We had no direct light from the sun as it set, so no real "golden hour", but we were treated to a decent red sky once the sun had gone down. I really liked this location and the solitude it provided. I think I will be back.

I originally saw it done in a photography magazine, so not my idea.
Staples built around 1997. Former location of a gigantic Albertsons Payless combo store.

I love all the London suburbs, more or less unconditionally. Somebody did ask me recently which was my least favourite part of London. After some thought I concluded that it was Staples Corner. It is essentially just a series of road junctions where the M1 and the A5 meet the North Circular Road. It's certainly the least pedestrian-friendly place
Back in the day when we were kids, my friends used to make these for use in their pranks. The most common version was when they would leave a few on someone's chair. Needless to say it was a painful experience for whoever the target was....

An early morning trek to a frosty Staple Tor for a sunrise shoot, unfortunately there was very little cloud around. At least there was no wind and the sun soon warmed us up. Best on Black.
