A lone broken tree trunk stands on a hillside with forest behind. The air is heavy with mist and fog, pushing the trees into hazy silhouettes

Last weekend I did a shoot for a family I knew from Belgium. I asked them kindly to stand on this rickety picnic table because I like pictures of feet. They were totally cool with it and I absolutely LOVE how this turned out. :)

Whilst the autumn colours are in full force at the moment, the weather has other ideas. So here is an image from Blea Tarn last year, I loved the stand out golden tree lining the shoreline. It was a waiting game, I was ecstatic when the water calmed and the sun broke through illuminating the golden foliage.
A similar image features in my 2018 Lakes Calendar, now available and in limited supply:
√ Campobasso immobile, immersa in una coltre di neve, mentre il bianco anche oggi si allunga e congela ogni cosa - anche il tempo sembra essersi fermato. Soli con il freddo e intabarrati a dovere, si cammina a testa bassa, stando ben attenti a non cadere. Amata o detestata che sia, la neve è la regina dell'inverno.

I have been fascinated with this tree since the first time I saw it. It stands in the middle of the river in the top tiers of a giant waterfall. It stands at a crazy tilt with huge wild branches going every which way to balance it. I've seen it stand through heavy spring floods and thick winter ice. Hundreds of other trees in the surrounding forest fell in the severe storms of the last two years. Trees near the edge of the fall below were uprooted or snapped entirely in two. This tree, though, it just grips the stones and holds firmly in place. And it doesn't just survive, it grows and is beautiful. If you can call a tree brave, I'd say this one has an admirable amount of courage.

Still not fit for fight but had to fill up the refrigerator with some food. Luckily the store sign had painted some shadow graffiti with the bicycle stand…Snap!
