Wheatear shouting at a Little owl owlet. Massive crop on this shot, but I love seeing the owlet peeping through the grass.
Stand alone. Just after sunrise Crummock water. The light is just starting to get interesting from the dull overcast sunrise as it lights up High Crag. I slept the night before in the car at a near by car park for this photos, it was freezing. Before I set out I was questioning why am I doing this! However once I had parked and was wrapped in my sleeping bag it was just reward after reward. I fell a sleep listening to the river flow passed, while looking at the supermoon breaking through the clouds. I walk in the dawn dark to the lake with only the wind blowing through trees. At the foot of the lake I look at an unpromising prospect for a sunrise and a flock of geese fly over head. Then the tell tail sound of swan wings beating as a pair fly over and land in the lake. Why am I doing this? Come on :-)
Go ahead and take your best shot,
Let 'er rip, give it all you've got,
I'm laid out on the floor, but I've been here before,
I may stumble, yeah I might fall,
Only human aren't we all?
I might lose my way, but hear me when I say,
I will stand back up,
You'll know just the moment when I've have enough,
Sometimes I'm afraid, and I don't feel that tough,
But I'll stand back up,
I've been beaten up and bruised,
I've been kicked right off my shoes,
Been down on my knees more times than you'd believe,
When the darkness tries to get me,
There's a light that just won't let me,
It might take my pride, and my tears may fill my eyes,
But I'll stand back up,
I've weathered all these storms,
But I just turn them into wind, so I can fly,
What don't kill you makes you stronger,
When I take my last breath,
That's when I'll just give up,
So, go ahead to take your best shot,
Let 'er rip, give it all you've got,
You might win this round but you can't keep me down,
'Cause I'll stand back up,
And you'll know just the moment when I've had enough,
Sometimes I'm afraid and I don't feel that tough,
But I'll stand back up,
You'll know just the moment when I've had enough,
Sometimes I'm afraid and I don't feel that tough,
But I'll stand back up.
but don’t forget to take a rest when everything seems to fall apart. pick up yourself and stand again
I'm about ready to publish my fourth volume in the Expired; Photos on Dead Film series. This is one of the pictures from it.
For this volume, I'm sharing what I wrote in my travel journal in July of 2022, when most of these photos were taken.
Often my writing is historical or biographical in nature. This is a touch more personal.
Over the next couple of weeks, I'll share some more photos from it. It should be available sometime in later April. I hope you pick up a copy.
This particular photo was taken at the National Bison Range on the Flathead Reservation in Montana.

Against the wave
Against the darkest sea
Even if you lose your way,
It makes you True and Free

I have always wanted to take a photo of this feed mill. Usually there is an old truck parked under the overhang however today there was a modern truck. This photo shows the Stand of Time.
Step outside, summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out

Some other strange ducks we saw during our visit to Smith's Park, Richmond. I am not sure what type of ducks they are.
We have been having a lot of internet outages - will catch up with everyone tomorrow.

Saguaro cactus seem to stand in glorious attention in their environment and view distant wonders. This photo was taken from the Sunrise Trail in the Scottsdale McDowell Mountain Preserve. In the distance are the Mazatzal Mountains in the Tonto National Forest with Four Peaks seen on the right side. Brown's Peak at 7,659 feet is the tallest and is at the left of the four. And, yes that is some snow can be seen on the peaks.

Godsmack-I stand alone
Now I've told you this once before
You can't control me
If you try to take me down you're gonna break
I feel your every nothing that you're doing for me
I'm picking you out of me
You run away
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
You're always hiding behind your so called goddess
So what you don't think that we can see your face
Resurrected back before the final fallen
Now they've arrest until I can make my own way
I'm not afraid of fading
I stand alone
Feeling your sting down inside me
I'm not dying for it
I stand alone
Everything that I believe is fading
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
And now its my time (now its my time)
It's my time to dream (my time to dream)
Dream of the sky (dream of the sky)
Make me believe that this place is inplagued
By the poison in me
Help me decide if my fire will burn out
Before you can breathe
Breathe into me
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
Feeling your sting down inside me
I'm not dying for it
I stand alone
Everything that I believe is fading
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone

If we all stand together we can weather even the worst of storms!
One of my very first attempts at long exposures after the sunset.
I was VERY pleased with how well it turned out.
It is going to be really hard to top this tonight...but I'll have to try!
Crab spider (Mecaphesa spp.) vs. skipper with the Purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) as the battleground. There are battles everyday, everywhere you look.
A Royal Tern (Thalasseus maximus) from Galveston County, Texas.
The Texas Coast is experiencing the tail end of the great spring migration that fills our beaches with an incredible diversity of gulls, terns, sandpipers, plovers, and other shorebirds. This time of years, many tern species congregate and perform their elaborate courtship rituals in hopes of finding a mate for the coming breeding seasons. Due to the mass congregation of birds, it can be difficult to isolate an individual from the crowd. I liked this image, however, with a lovely Royal Tern and a background of its blurred conspecifics.
