BowFlex SelectTech stand experienced a bolt failure

I do not believe in resolutions the way I do not believe in New Years eve - I think it's silly to say, once a year, that I'm going to improve myself, my life. Instead, I want to wake up every morning with those things in mind.

I don't though, and, I suppose, if I had to have a resolution, that would be it. That I wouldn't just have good ideas and intentions, but actually act on them.

Also, these things:

-Trust God more

-Be less afraid

-Say yes (and stop hole-ing myself up in my house alone anytime I feel sad or lonely or angry or...)

-Be confident in my decisions, yet quick to admit mistakes

-Love, love, love on everyone around me (even when I don't feel like it) instead of wishing everyone would love, love, love on me

-Constantly strive to build people up, and not tear them down

-Give myself to everything I do in a way I've only glimpsed in the past, especially my day-to-day work, and even when I don't feel like doing it

-Stop waiting

There you have it. I lied. I do believe in resolutions. And, actually, in celebrations, even New Years Eve. I just don't believe in doing them once a year, or being forced into them by a calendar date. I believe in resolving to be more Christlike every day, and if that makes you feel weird (or feel like I'm weird), that's okay. And I believe in celebrating every day.

But none of that means I've been able to do those things well, or at all. So here's to 2008. A bit late, as always.

How about you? Any resolutions?

This slimy stand has stitches. How? HOW?!?!?

A bit of a stand-off. He wanted to go exactly where I stood - and ,yes, he won.

On my way in to work here in downtown San Diego, I was stopped from crossing the street due to "a situation". Apparently I came at the right time as the 4 hour stand off was just finishing and I was able to cross after only a few minutes.

This is a stand for the iPad2 made from Cherry. I had a very similar stand already made for the original iPad, but the iPad 2 has buttons on the side that made the old stand problematic. This new one addresses that by having a shorter support piece. The switch just hangs over empty space now. The joinery is stop-routed mortises and offset tenons. Offset because I routed the mortises in the wrong place. But you'd never know that, so I'm not sure why I mention it.

You guys! In today's yoga session, I did a $*%&ing handstand!

Yeah, it was wall-assisted, and yeah, it was only for 3 seconds, and yeah, maybe it was more of a 3 count, and yeah, maybe that 3 count was pretty quick ... but still. I was up there. For 3 breaths. (Quick breaths.)

Monday's are becoming quite fun, slowly working on hand or head stands, in this really, really slow baby steps method, with some advanced options. Even a few weeks ago I was in no yoga shape to attempt this. And now, to go ice my shoulders. 😁

(Kidding, actually. They feel worked out but otherwise they're quite fine. Yoga's great that way.)
