The SS Luftschiff Yaxchilan, named for a major Maian city in the Eukatan, is one of the world's first true flying aircraft carriers. Developed as an experiment by Lochkopf Aviation in collaboration with the Maian aircraft firm Muizlibixli, the LS-28 was given to the Maian SS by Lochkopf as a gift to the gods and the shaman-priests of Kukulcan who vowed to grant success to the company.
The airship carries 25 fighter-sized aircraft, is filled with hydrogen, armored, and powered by ten gas-electric turbines. Bomber, transport, and other versions are planned for the future.

The Laser Weapon System (LaWS) temporarily installed aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) in San Diego, Calif., is a technology demonstrator built by the Naval Sea Systems Command from commercial fiber solid state lasers, utilizing combination methods developed at the Naval Research Laboratory. LaWS can be directed onto targets from the radar track obtained from a MK 15 Phalanx Close-In Weapon system or other targeting source. The Office of Naval Research's Solid State Laser (SSL) portfolio includes LaWS development and upgrades providing a quick reaction capability for the fleet with an affordable SSL weapon prototype. I got a letter from DHL to inform me that I have to pay them import duty that they paid on my behalf... fair enough but when you enter the URL they provide for payment you are redirected to this site with a totally different parent domain and a SSL certificate which has no mention of DHL at all. Am I going to key in my card details?
