Miami, at Florida's southeastern tip, is a vibrant city whose Cuban influence is reflected in the cafes and cigar shops that line Calle Ocho in Little Havana. Miami Beach, on barrier islands across the turquoise waters of Biscayne Bay, is home to glamorous South Beach, famed for its colorful art deco buildings, white sand, surfside hotels and trendsetting nightclubs.

Macro Monday 11/30/09 - Security
Nicer Large on Black
Posted for this week's Macro Monday challenge, the theme was Security. The image is of a digital certificate used by a web site to provide encryption between a browser and the server. I thought it appropriate for this week's challenge **but it is a shot I could have basically screenshotted so I may post something a bit more photographically interesting as well later today** (I didn't get around to another and this seems to have been well received :) yay!).
This was done with a lensbaby composer, no aperture ring which I think makes it f/2.

The SS Luftschiff Yaxchilan, named for a major Maian city in the Eukatan, is one of the world's first true flying aircraft carriers. Developed as an experiment by Lochkopf Aviation in collaboration with the Maian aircraft firm Muizlibixli, the LS-28 was given to the Maian SS by Lochkopf as a gift to the gods and the shaman-priests of Kukulcan who vowed to grant success to the company.
The airship carries 25 fighter-sized aircraft, is filled with hydrogen, armored, and powered by ten gas-electric turbines. Bomber, transport, and other versions are planned for the future.

A shot from the patio on the west side of the Space Sciences Laboratory in the Berkeley hills above the Lawrence Hall of Science, seen in lower foreground, with a major portion of Berkeley, most of Emeryville, and a slice of Oakland, CA in the shot. Across the bay is (of course) San Francisco. Taken by a Graflex Speed Graphic with a Ektar 152mm Æ’ 4.5 lens (Kodak Supermatic 2 shutter, 1/400 sec max shutter speed...) on Ilford HP-5+ 4x5 film.
