The SS Rotterdam, known as "The Grande Dame", was launched by Queen Juliana in a gala ceremony on 13 September 1958, and completed the following summer. The Rotterdam was the last great Dutch "ship of state", employing the finest artisans from the Netherlands in her construction and fitting out process. With a career spanning forty years, she was also one of the most successful passenger ships of all time. She sailed from Rotterdam to New York (the Holland America Line) from 1959 until her final retirement in September 2000. Now she's a luxury hotel and restaurant, and we celebrated my mothers 65th birthday there!

This is an Instagram-shot of the pool with my kids in it.

Belongs to my friend Jim...Jim is a real happy kind of guy

The Steam Ship Rotterdam was launched in 1958 as the flagship of the Holland America Line. She took individuals and families from the old world to the West, seeking a better future.

As such, she has changed history for countless souls and at least 2 countries.

Nowadays, the Motor Ship Rotterdam is the new flagship of the HAL and this grand old lady... has been fully restored and serves as the most beautiful hotel in Rotterdam, close to the old departure quay.

Lighting info: after 2 weeks waiting a clear sky appeared for a nice red and blue sunrise. At last! I had more control over the flashes: 2 x Sunpak 4205G at full power, one lighting the stern and the other removing the blacks from the gate building.

'Bought for the princely sum of £15 back in 1963, this SS Jaguar 1½-litre drop-head coupe was Peter's first car. Some 48 years later, he still owns it and his passion for it is as strong as ever.'

It's a WWII extension of Andromula's "stereotypes". :)
