Spent with the ones you love is what this season is all about. Being grateful, happy, and peaceful.

I spent another beautiful afternoon at the Dingo Discovery Centre yesterday and we were lucky enough to spend some time not just with some puppies, but with mum and dad as well. This is dad, the magnificent Saxon.

Saxon is around 12-13 years old, the folks at the Dingo Discovery Centre are not exactly sure because of how Saxon came to them.

Saxon is a Fraser Island Dingo, he was smuggled off Fraser Island as a puppy, in an Esky (drink cooler) by some idiotic folks who thought he might make a good guard dog in their car yard. He was driven literally across the country to Western Australia where he lived, petrified and locked up, under a car in the car yard for a few years.

Fortunately, rather than being destroyed, he was then rescued by the DDC folks and he now lives there, and is one of the most beautiful Dad's you will ever see.

I spent the last weekend in Norfolk, thought there was a chance of a great sunrise. Always wanted to shoot one of the windmills at sunrise with mist and frost. Of course that didn't happen, although it was very cold, there was no frost at Thurne windmill, no mist, no colour in the sky, no reflections on the river, basically it was one boring sunrise. At lunch time I stopped at Horsey Windpump but the conditions were not very favourable and sun right above the windmill so I didn't take any photos. Ended up at Horsey Gap which was full of grey seals, it was an amazing experience to witness them. On the way back to London I was passing the windmill again and saw the stunning reflections so quickly took a u-turn and took few shots at sunset time. The water was so calm, it was like a mirror!

I spent four days at a sanctuary for Black Bears in northern Minnesota run by the American Bear Association (www.americanbear.org/). During the days that our workshop had access to the sanctuary we saw big boars, sows with cubs including several with cubs born this spring, some with year old cubs, two year olds who were out on their own for the first time and other adult males and females. Tremendous experience getting to observe bear behavior and being able to photograph these awesome creatures.

I spent a wonderful afternoon at a local gardens where spring was bursting forth in all its glory. It's such a beautiful space, and yet free to enter which seems a very rare and special thing these days.

The sight of people's faces upturned to the welcome sun and their smiles as they encountered some new or beautiful specimen, or listened to birdsong, was every bit as precious as the garden itself.

I feel as though spring has truly sprung and I might have fallen in love with my camera all over again too!

American Robin (Turdus migrators) spent the winter of 2015/2016, surviving on fruit and berry trees along with feeding on minnows in a small wetland in northeast Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

As we have now entered the winter of 2016/2017, it will be interesting to see if any Robins attempt to brave the season again.

We spent a recent family weekend in the border region near Montzen. On two occasions I got out to make a few photos in Remersdaal: once during daytime, once during nighttime. Both times I got a mixed freight train from Antwerp to Köln headed by a double Traxx engine. And that's where the similarities between the two photos end. 4 different liveries, 2 operators and a totally different atmosphere. Not sure which one I prefer, I enjoyed the "making of" of both as much.

This picture shows DB Cargo Belgium's 186 144 and 186 237 hauling a mixed freight from Antwerp to Köln-Gremberg.

I spent two hours trying to photograph hummingbirds tonight. One bird showed up and I managed to snap 3 frames. Thankfully, one was usable. :)

Spent a wonderful day down at Cape Schanck exploring the rock pools and rock formations. I wasn't early enough for sunrise (typical) and encountered sunny skies and very little in the way of a sunset. Still, I tried to make the most of the conditions.

The sea was quite treacherous at times, though you wouldn't know it from this image. Many warning signs about the errant, large waves that crash against the rocks.

This chair stood out starkly against the sea, perched quite perilously on some rocks. Someones idea of a joke perhaps. You would be dicing with death to actually sit on it!

I spent the day at the Lorain Fishing pier taking shots of lots of small birds (Lapland larkspur's, Snow Buntings and a horned lark, when this Falcon fly-by made them scatter for cover. That was fine with me because this big bird made a much easier target for me.

Thank you for visits, comments and favs - have a good start to the new week!

Spent a great couple of days at a drinking pool hide in Hungary. This female Blackcap has just been for a dip and is drying out.

Many thanks for all the comments and favourites - much appreciated.

Spent half an hour following this badger in Glen Cannich this morning. Most surprised to come across it at 10.00 am on a very dreich Saturday. He spotted me a couple of times and ran off but not very far and I ended up getting really close but the bad light and the grass were against me

I spent a few weeks in the Rocky Mountain National Park in the Fall of 2019 and captured many images I have been slow to edit, and this is one of those images.

I found this grove of Aspens on a steep hillside off the beaten path on a rainy mid-afternoon. The sun poked its head out just for a few moments in a hazy attempt to shine. I found that quality of light to be perfect for this composition. In processing I added a slight Orton effect to give the scene a bit of a glow.

I spent a lovely weekend in Sydney. I was lucky enough while there to visit Vivid which is a festival of light and music.

Vivid Light transforms Sydney into a wonderland of 'light art' sculptures, innovative light installations and grand-scale projections for all to enjoy.

I spent 5 days in the Park and never saw the primary reason I came to Alaska: Denali. Peaks are my primary objective (with their beautiful ecosystems).

The day I took the bus to the Eielson Center it was completed shrouded in clouds.

The rule is only 30% of visitors do get to see all of this highest mountain on the continent. I was bummed but knew I'd have a few more opportunities.

Fortunately as I headed S on the George Parks Highway for Anchorage and the Kenai there she was, tall and majestic. 😍 Pulled the camper over and did indeed dance. I did see Denali several more times while here.

A couple more scenic road shots ahead before moving on to something else.

Happy Easter weekend!

Spent 2 days around the remote area & were skunked by clear sky the first day & the second day sunrise... not the hardest place to reach but we were feeling desperate not getting ANY shot from the trip. Lucky for us, the last sunset we were rewarded for a good burn! I wish we had time to really explore the place... unreal formations are just all over the place.

Not the most striking hoodoo by any means but I really like how the formation kinda resemble the Sphlinx.... with a few zebra stripes :)

Thanks for looking & Merry X-mas!

I spent so much time in front of the PC/internet. I think I have to control it and spend more time with my kids. Pls dont be offended if I rarely comment on your photos, if I really dont have time I will only fave your photos. I also dont mind if you dont comment on mine, no hard feeling:)

Spent Canada day in the mountains!

Spent the most beautiful summer's day at Hvide Sande :-)

Spent an afternoon with Tim Higgs and his dad Dave around Davis Jct, Illinois. We ran into this 107-train spotting the grain elevator at Monroe Center. GP38-2 355 was part of a six-unit order by the Milwaukee Road in 1973.

I spent Memorial weekend in Oregon with a good friend. We explored the gorge and some surrounding waterfall areas. I'm finally recovered from the lack of sleep and have finally had a chance to go through the images. I hope you enjoy them.

Wahclella Falls, Oregon

We spent a full day at Trinidad Loop in Washington State. There are numerous ways to capture the magic of this spectacular 10 degree curve, but we only scratched the surface.

Our second eastbound train of the morning wraps itself around Lynch Coulee at 08:41 on July 1, 1995. BN train 16 did the honors, and looked mighty fine. The addition of a gold and blue MPI leaser just added to the coolness.

Perhaps someday I will return to Trinidad and observe the BNSF parade in this remote corner of the Great Northern Railway.

This image, now viral and representing Wisconsin all over the world, was created by J J Sedelmaier - a UW grad, noted animator, illustrator, designer, author and film director/producer, known for co-creating the 'Saturday TV Funhouse' segment—including The Ambiguously Gay Duo and The X-Presidents—on the TV series Saturday Night Live and over 500 other TV and advertising projects.

Spent many hours today waiting for this Snowy Owl to present herself. She spent most of the time hiding behind rock and bushes. When she decided to move around it was Fabulous.

Spent last week in Ypres in Belgium. It is pretty flat and mostly farmland, plus very sunny, so had to work with what I had. This is a typical Belgian field and actually borders the edge of one of the many British WWI cemeteries, which often sit in the middle of farmland. Very sobering.

I spent some time at one of our large marshes a couple weeks ago, Horicon Marsh.

These were just a portion of the Great Egrets that were feeding in the water. There were more just outside the borders of this image.

This place is a birder's paradise!

Spent a few weeks out on Nantucket this summer and was lucky enough to get some nice shots of the lighthouse and the stars.

Spent the day at Floyd Lamb Park on the North-West side of Las Vegas. This is a great place to photograph wildlife on the several small ponds in the park.

I spent some time in a hide to take pictures of this beautiful bird during sommer and autumn, but this time it was a real snapshot: Taking a stroll along the bank of the rhine on a grey and dull early winter day I suddenly spotted this little gem. Even the camera was not ready, still in the backpack but the bird didnt move for 3-4 pictures. This is the one I like the best

We spent a couple of days up in Ludlow, Vermont, and you can't spend time in that area without visiting the Vermont General Store in Weston! If ever in the area, and you want to kill an hour, or more, I highly recommend a visit! With so much to see (and photograph if you are so inclined) you will not be disappointed, I promise! Everything from penny candies to kitchen utensils, and hats and shirts to neat old toys. Local cheeses and other treats too, and there's stuff everywhere and in a great and pretty large post and beam store. And there's a nice old Advanced Design Chevy pickup outside full of flowers in the bed. The place is a winner...and I took a bunch of shots with many more to be posted. I hope you'll enjoy them!

Winter is almost over now

I spent most of the year

Dreading you

You are a curse that always

Lasts about 2 to 3 months

Though, each year I'm alive

Your visits grow shorter

You remind me of death

Everything will leave us in time

All living entities have an Expiration

Not all dates are readable or Predictable

But winter comes and takes so much away from us.

It is hard to even appreciate Autumn

When you think about

All of the beauty dying.

All of the colors drying out.

And the Withering…

The challenge to find beauty

In less expected places.

The air, although it seems, crisp at first, becomes

Far more chilling, and intolerable.

The greater the years I am alive,

The more brutal it feels.

It gets to feeling like

I have no skin at all.

But now, I realize

Spring is actually coming.

Spring is a hopeful time yet

Will I ironically miss the dread?

I feel remorse for the fact that

I have no excuse to stay

Inside, isolated, and depressed.

This feels much more like my

Genuine human state.

I cannot resist the world in Spring when life is reborn

I literally have no reasons left

To not go outside.

The experience of the world is

Waiting for me.

Am I ready?

I spent a little time in the back yard trying to get one of the perchers in the orange tree, with an orange or two as a requirement. My tree's fruit is now, a Navel Orange tree, weighted heavily with winter oranges. I've made gallons of orange juice and could make a few more with what's left. But the point was to show the bird and the tree - in fact, there's already a few orange blossoms - that will be a whole new rush for the senses. Anyway, this guy a male House Sparrow, one of many guys and gals this morning, lining up for a chance at the seed feeder hanging off the house eave.

We spent Christmas and New Year in Cornwall, managing to avoid the snow and ice but instead suffering from a vast amount of rain and gales, especially along the coasts. This was the best day when we had a few hours of sunshine and went out for a drive, ending up at Kingsand. This is a delightful former fishing village on the Rame Peninsula in the far south-east of Cornwall, where it overlooks Plymouth Sound. Plymouth is in the far distance. Along with many others, we enjoyed a drink outside the delightful Devonport Inn, which can just be seen on the left.

Can I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year.

We spent the day shopping in Bournemouth and the main road coming back was gridlocked so we drove across the Forest to get home. Got to Newbridge and saw the Shetland foals with their herd wandering around. This little foal thought it had become separated from it's mother but she was just behind a bush. He panicked and started calling her.

I spent some time taking photos of seagulls that evening. My first shooting of them flying around the seafront. Quite interesting and remarkable creatures.

Brighton 🇬🇧

21st May, 2020

I spent a few days in the French alps near Mont Blanc. No vacation, mostly work, but at night I got the chance to sneak away and try to shoot a few photos. The air was not dry enough to see the Milky Way clearly, but if you squint a bit you can just about see it arching from the lower right corner to the center.

We spent a wonderful few days away in Yea recently and I woke on this particular morning to a beautiful Winter wonderland.

At 7.00 am it was - 1.2 degrees, and didn't my toes know it!

The paddocks looked almost white and fabulous frosty detailed surrounded me. I was so delighted and didn't know where to point the camera first!

By the time I headed indoors my toes felt as though they were literally frozen off they were hurting so much, but what artist hasn't suffered for their art!

Spent an hour with these fox cubs watching them interact

Spent time in Guilford chasing osprey to no avail. I wanted to hit Madison beach before the last of the light was gone. It was a tame sunset tonight but still lovely.

Spent a while yesterday photographing these stunning birds feeding their young, amazing amount of food going into the nest from the two adults.
