The Sancti Petri lighthouse is located on the coast of Cádiz in southern Spain. This day was special because of the color that the clouds acquired just as the sun disappeared.

Coming across this pure and beautiful flower is nothing short of very “Special.” I wasn’t looking for this beauty so coming across this perfect specimen was truly a shock. The pure white color with the beautiful green leaves are a wonderful contrasting delight. Of course the soft warm yellow center brings the flower to the “head of class.” Thanks for viewing my photos. Gratitude and Kindness are felt within this capture because this was found in a pretty rough neighborhood. Special barely covers this beauty.
The special train departs Highley. Next stop Hampton Loade and then terminating at Bridgnorth. The Coaching stock making up this train was the Great Western SVR Association's 3 Top Light carriages and the GWR Siphon G 1257 Bogie Milk Churn Van.

One of those precious special moments. After waiting for their scout to come back to tell them he has found a field for the day, these geese fly to that particular field and will return to the lake again at night.
This collage was in the newspaper. Some of you may have seen the story on the national news. It was a little league game here in Waco, Texas. The pitch hit the batter's helmet Thankfully he was not hurt. When he got to first base he saw how upset the pitcher was. He was shaken and crying. The player that was hit took of his helmet and walked to the pitcher and gave him a hug. He told him he new he did not mean to and that he was a good pitcher.
With all the bad stuff we see on the news it is good to see something special like this.
This sunset was still one of my favorites over the course of my time doing photography. The color stretched across the entire sky from one lake to the next. This was the sky on the opposite side of the sunset. This was not even the main color for it which is why this one in particular was so special to me. I often think about how everyone rushes to the main attraction or the most popular person and never realize the simple, humble beauty that they are missing. It is the one that is humble and not self-seeking that is exalted in the end. "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." (James 4:6)
Someone at camera club said this could have some potential for photography, I went there it has a lot, will go back for milkyway and stars. If lucky might get some nothern lights !!!
Here is Kakashi as a kitten and on his very first walk outside. He took to the harness and leash like a pro and we have been taking daily walks together ever since.

I liked this special cow I saw on a hike from the Hoher Ifen, near Oberwäldele.
Meanwhile I've done some research and I found out that in the Netherlands at least one group is trying to maintain this special combination of colouring in cattle, called "witrik" (white back). It is not exactly a breed, but a rare and yet dominant colouring in cattle.

An unusual owl for my first owl capture of 2017. These small Northern Saw-whet owls are not common and it is only the second one I have seen. It has been nearly 5 years to the day since I saw my first one so this was a huge thrill. Taken in a local park in Calgary, Alberta.

Special photo - not one but two elephants with raised trunks. The upward-trunked elephant is considered a positive omen, and it is often associated with blessings and good luck to those who encounter it. Kruger National Park - as rain was approaching.

Spay a village of less than 2000 people has a million dollar view and a special relationship with the Marksburg, it is hard to escape a view of it from anywhere in the community the castle is ingrained in every residents memory.
What could make a view of this story book castle any finer, why fireworks of course and this is exactly what happens around the middle of August in Spay as part of the land program for the “Rhein in Flammen” that takes place throughout summer.
This fireworks and music program is best enjoyed from one of the floating tour boats from Koblenz to Rudesheim but if you really want to keep your feet on dry land Spay offers a great place to take it in with the Marksburg as a backdrop.
There can be no more a Disneyesque sight in Germany than fireworks launching from behind the Marksburg high atop its cliffs with the Rhein and the little village of Spay for its witnesses.

Another shot from the archives and one of my first “Big Glass” shots. Taken in April of 2017 and on my first trip into the woods lugging around my then new 600mm lens…an investment that was years in the making! I had decided to go off trail at Muscatatuck NWR in search of roosting owls. An hour or so in I noted a huge cavity in a large tree…a perfect home for something! I found a spot away from the surrounding stickers and set up to see what might be inside.
The bottom rim of the orifice was well worn, a great indication of activity. I decided to sit for a bit and wait. After twenty minutes or so of keeping an eye on a hole in a tree, I decided I was wasting my day and stood up from my comfortable spot at the base of a large oak tree. Just as I stood and started extending out my monopod leg, something caught my eye flying through the woods. I believe the large tree him me from him perfectly as he threw on the airbrakes and made an emergency landing on a large limb maybe 25-30 yards away.
We both just staired at each other for what felt like an eternity as I feared that as soon as I pointed my lens at him, he would take flight. Surprisingly, he just sat and looked around and at me, as if wondering what the hell I was doing off the popular trail. I took several dozen shots, gave him a nod with my head and thanked him aloud for being so kind. I then walked away at an angle that showed I meant no harm.
Having something that you are searching for come to you is such a gift.
