Gonna start a series from the Oregon coast.
Nothing quite like the sounds of flying birds and surging waves against a rocky shore. This was taken near Depoe Bay.
Mountains and their ecosystems are my primary passion but I've felt the pull of the surf more recently. Years in the Navy provided some great surf time when younger. I enjoyed a trip to the southern Oregon coast last year, which I'll post soon. Here's some from an earlier trip to the central OR coast.
Have a wonderful week!
The mountain moment; the call of the Pika (also known as the whistling hare) projects his high pitched sound - typically to sound the alarm but sometimes to communicate to other Pikas in the vicinity.
No better time to go through my ridiculous archives. I have over 6TB of pictures spanning 20 years!!
Somehow we were blessed with fabulous sunshine during our walk along the seafront in Seattle. Looking out into Puget Sound it was a different kettle of fish as can be seen here. One of the many ferries that work this stretch of water can be seen making a crossing. No doubt its open decks were clear of passengers.
Sometimes I am just speechless about something I see!just standing and listening to the sound of silence!
BCR 717 along Howe Sound and the aptly named Sea to Sky Highway.SO many great memories from this trip. 6.89
Due to MOW work on the Valley Sub, today’s MNPRV was sent down the Sacramento Subdivision into Roseville. Heading just south of Pleasant Grove, I found myself with an opportunity for searchlights, reflection, and a special guest, an egret. After a few minutes of waiting, the sound of a horn could be heard in the distance and anyone could tell that the train was flying as the roaring sound of the horn and locomotives echoed through the countryside. After a few minutes, the train showed up and right after taking this photo the egret would fly away due to the train scaring it off.
From Devils Point near where HMS Beagle, with Charles Darwin aboard, sailed from Plymouth Sound on 27 December 1831.
In the distance Drakes Island, Bovisand, Wembury and the Mewstone.
For some time I have considered changing my guitar setup from right hand to left because although I am ambidextrous I have recently favoured picking it up to play left handed and then I have to change to the right which gets a bit confusing for a short time.
Being new to the area I have been very impressed with the shops, restaurants and the high street of the Somerset town of Frome, and I was very impressed with the music shop Sounds of Frome. Anyway, I had an hour to kill while they did the work and while doing a little photo walk I came across a very good little art supply shop at the other end of the high street.
We headed to beautiful Santa Cruz, located at the California coast across the hill from the Silicon Valley. It's fun strolling along the beach, listening to the sound of waves.
I processed a photographic and a balanced HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Another experimenting with the WDA, if we stop having rank rotten (I love rainy arty shots but this is just floods everywhere!) weather I will get out with the Brownie and get some new stuff!
With Aaronxxx, Walking passed a pub in Manchester.Been listening to the Album Low by DB.take on the cover.
There are no words that can adequately capture the experience that is Milford Sound. I've never seen anything quite like it. Dozens of huge waterfalls cascade down near vertical walls of rock and foliage. It is a sight to behold!
