Created together with Heinz Hagenbucher on a very cold November morning.

45/365 and 51/52

I created this photo in loving memory of my amazing Gran - Vera. She was my constant and will be greatly missed, not only due to having to buy less red wine to fuel her slight addiction, but our lovely lunches, being hit with her handbag when I was cheeky and all her stories.

I don't know what happens when you pass on, I hope that where ever you are, you're happy and reunited with Granddad again.

All my love,

Rach

my soul is the sea

The Soul Nebula is about 100 light years across and has an estimated age of 1 million years. It contains several small open stars clusters. IC 1848 is embedded in the body of the nebula, while the clusters CR 34, 632 and 634 can be seen in the head. Small emission nebulae IC 1871, 670 and 669 are located just next to the Soul Nebula.

The Soul Nebula is being carved out by the stellar winds from the stars embedded within it, a process that leaves behind large pillars of material pointing inwards. These pillars are very dense and have stars forming at their tips. Each pillar spans about 10 light years.

The nebula is home to W5, a radio source that spans an area roughly the size of four full Moons. The radio source has large cavities that are the result of the nearby massive stars’ winds and radiation carving the nebula, pushing the gas together and causing it to ignite to form new stars.

Imaged over three nights with a combined exposure time of 19 hours. Shot through hydrogen alpha, oxygen III, and sulfur II filters.

I had processed this image a week ago, but after that I got some very constructive remarks about the processing. This resulted in this much more detailed and sharper view of this nebula.

Description:

Stars are forming in the Soul of the Queen of Aethopia. More specifically, a large star forming region called the Soul Nebula can be found in the direction of the constellation Cassiopeia, who Greek mythology credits as the vain wife of a King who long ago ruled lands surrounding the upper Nile river. The Soul Nebula houses several open clusters of stars, a large radio source known as W5, and huge evacuated bubbles formed by the winds of young massive stars. Located about 6,500 light years away, the Soul Nebula spans about 100 light years and is usually imaged next to its celestial neighbor the Heart Nebula (IC 1805). (source: APOD)

Getting up close and personal with animals is what I love to, it captures their soul and spirit. I got up close and personal with Girlie from the Brant Norfolk Veterinary Clinic, but not long after this photo was taken, out came the claws and the session was over with...

"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies."

I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen with my eyes!

Shimmering in silky tones, trembling with beauty and individuality... joined in passion like grown from one stem, they belong together.

These Peonies start a vibrant purple red and pale as the open, ending in cream... a sight for sore eyes!

The petals look 'waxy' but feel silky soft!

The peony was originally introduced as medicine. In fact, its ancient Japanese name "Ebisugusuri" literally means ‘medicine from China’.

However, due to its beautiful and now mostly double blooms, in time, many decorative varieties were developed.

In Japanese society, it was seen both as a medicine and a source of beauty.

THANK you for ALL your comments and visits, so appreciated.

Have a wonderful day, filled with love and beauty, M, (*_*)

Dzień Zaduszny na cmentarzu Rakowickim w Krakowie. Pomnik żołnierzy Armii Kraków, poległych we wrześniu 1939.

* * *

The All Souls Day at Rakowicki Cemetery in Kraków. People lighting candles at the memorial to the soldiers of Krakow Army, fallen defending their homeland in 1939.

Kraków Army (Polish: Armia Kraków) was one of the Polish armies to take part in the Polish Defensive War of 1939. The Army was commanded by general Antoni Szylling and it consisted of five infantry divisions, one mountain brigade, one motorized cavalry brigade, and one cavalry brigade.

Both the fighter squadrons (121st and 122nd Escadrille) from Kraków were not able to provide any air cover for their army, because they were ordered to move to Dęblin to join the Pursuit Brigade defending Warsaw.

The main task of Kraków Army was to delay advancing German troops and withdraw eastwards along the northern line of the Carpathians and defend the heavily industrialized Upper Silesia region, together with western counties of Lesser Poland and the Carpathian foothills. Altogether, Kraków Army defended southwestern border of Poland.

However, its forces were not enough to halt German advance, especially in the area north of Częstochowa, where Kraków Army connected with Łódź Army. Main thrust of Wehrmacht panzer units was directed there, and this area was defended only by the Polish 7th Infantry Division, which was destroyed in the early days of September 1939, opening the way towards central Poland.

As the German push penetrated Polish defences, Kraków Army was forced to retreat to avoid the danger of encirclement. It tried to organize lines of defense on the rivers of Nida, Dunajec and later, San. Later in the course of war it joined the Karpaty Army, forming the Małopolska Army. Together they fought at the first battle of Tomaszów Lubelski (September 17-20), capitulating afterwards.

Intentions are the energy of your soul coming into contact with your physical reality.

..."And when great souls die,

after a period peace blooms,

slowly and always

irregularly. Spaces fill

with a kind of

soothing electric vibration.

Our senses, restored, never

to be the same, whisper to us.

They existed. They existed.

We can be. Be and be

better. For they existed.”

La luna è una compagna fedele.

Non va mai via. È sempre di guardia, risoluta, ci conosce con il buio e con la luce, e come noi è in continua trasformazione. Ogni giorno è una versione diversa di se stessa. A volte tenue e pallida, altre intensa e luminosa. La luna sa cosa significa essere umani.

Insicuri. Soli. Butterati dalle imperfezioni

A Valentine Message from the Universe, The Heart & Soul Nebulae

(IC1805 & IC1848)

The Heart and Soul Nebulae complex spans an area about 300 light years across and is a vast star-forming region. Illuminated by the light of the young stars surrounded by star-forming clouds of dust and gas. The two large clouds are separated by only 2.5 degrees. The stars in the region are less than a few million years old and are only beginning their life. For comparison, our Sun has been around for almost 5 billion years.
