Nootka Rose, in the early morning Sunlight.

They say there are 4 stages of photography or 4 directions you can go in.

1.The proof shot. Merely documenting that you came and saw.

2. To document.

Similar to the proof shot but more specific and technically accurate.

3. To narrate.

This tends to be a more thought out approach as in telling a story through photos or one single photo. It conveys a message.

4. The creative shot.

This is when you make a conscious decision to capture a certain moment in a certain way or capturing an image to process later as you have a vision for it in her mind.

I tend to lean towards the creative side with 90% of my shots I have a plan for them once i get home to create into something different.

I obviously in turn take proof shots and I do a little with the documenting but I haven't yet dabbled in number 3. The narration part of photos but this year I am going to challenge myself, my mind set and my photography to use my photography to create such images so hopefully by them I can make a difference.

On a bright and sunny Sunday afternoon, families head into town to shop, meet friends or to go out to lunch. There is always something that catches someone’s interest.

Une compo assez classique avec un peu de recherche dans le traitement on arrive à en faire quelque chose... enfin je crois...

EN

A quite common compo. With some efforts in the treatment i managed to turn it to something nice... i guess...

It was overcast and the forecast called for a chance of showers. I didn't think I would be able to get in a photowalk, so I went to the Y for some exercise. When I got out a large, unforecast storm was approaching. I photographed the action from a school across from the park, so I would quickly be able to get in the car and escape when the rain started. Ultimately this storm dropped 3 inches of rain in just a couple of hours, causing some local flooding.

"What is it, then, between us?

What is the count of the scores or hundreds of years between us?

Whatever it is, it avails not—distance avails not, and place avails not."

This is 'on my doorstep' here in Norwich, and it is something of a hidden gem, but actually I'm thankful for it's (usual) peace and tranquility.

Where, and when, my mind becomes pure

away from the confusion

instigated by the 'pull' of society

I break with habit, and the 'norm'

taking refuge, mindfree, in my childhood hinterland

so often, life took me away from such roots

destroying memories and freedoms

in the name of profit, but for whom?

into corporate pockets real freedom was lost

now, unable to outpace most on foot

I steal away with all my memories refreshed

restoring time, replenishing home

all was within me,

just as all is around me.

My fourth attempt over a long period, and still a struggle to get something respectable. It is such a lovely scene to the eye, yet bedevilled by wires, cables, telegraph poles, cars, refuse bins, TV aerials, etc. Still not great, but this one is probably as good as it is ever going to get.

We've had a few good storms of late. Even tornados in nearby towns. It's been an active summer.

Sometimes color doesn't say as much as Monochrome.

This, I believe, is one. Actually the original is crummy dark greens, dark golds, too dark to post!

Something simple today, maybe a little cheeky but in case you're wondering......

Hope it makes you smile! xx

Ours is a rich, decadent, spiritually exhausted civilization. The sickness of the modern West comes from our having cut ourselves off from the source of enchantment. That is the belief that all life has ultimate, transcendent meaning, given to us by God, and that we can live in palpable, participatory relationship to that meaning. Recovering this belief, and making it not just a proposition we affirm in our heads but an embodied way of life, is the most urgent task facing us today.
