Ventricle was created by SOFTlab, a design studio based in New York and founded by architect Michael Szivos. It was on display at the Festival Hall from July until today. It represents a two-part heart created using a woven aluminium structure with luminous petals to form gradients of shimmering colour.

SOFTlab’s design, “Nova,” was selected as the winner of the second annual design competition hosted by the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership and the Van Alen Institute in collaboration with DOT Art, to choose a work for the season’s Holiday Installation. Located within the Flatiron North Public Plaza at 23rd Street and Broadway, the structure will be on display from November 18th through January 6th, 2016 in conjunction with free festive community programming presented by the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership. The installation is comprised of seven viewing cones, fabricated out of aluminum, 3M Scotchlife Reflective Material, 3M Dichroic film and LED lights, that spectators can use to admire the surrounding landmarks and sky through a distorted, unexpected way. Shaped in the form of a star, the design pays homage to the stars importance throughout history when it was used to navigate the land and sea and as a special symbol of the holidays, guiding pilgrimages to holy sites. “Nova” will serve as the areas very own North Star as it remains a fixed, recognizable landmark while the bustle of holiday traffic steadily circulates around it.

Located in the public space surrounding Google’s new campus headquarters in Mountain View, California the Halo Pavilion stands as a testament to the innovative fusion of art and engineering. As you approach the building, the sculpture emerges as a striking feature in the landscape. Perched atop a gentle hill rising just above the treeline, the exterior of the circular pavilion features an arrangement of vertical aluminum tubes contrasting starkly with its wondrous interior. The interior reveals a crystalline steel structure, adorned with dichroic acrylic. This play of materials creates an enchanting environment that shifts and sparkles with the changing light.

The structure was designed and constructed for Google's new headquarters by SOFTlab of New York City.

Amongst others taking selfies and photographers at the popular NOVA by Softlab Kaleidoscopic, viewing sculpture / art installation at Madison Square Park, fall-holiday 2015. You can walk under it and look at the local landmarks and vistas through its arms.

It's across from Flatiron Building, as you can see, which they were capturing in their pics. After a few moments they really noticed me stooping down aiming the camera and nicely asked if they were in the way of my photos of the building. Really [really?]
