Lucas is a designer with a team from SOFTlab (softlabnyc.com) working on a new art installation called ‘Mirror Mirror’ in the brand new Waterfront Park at the eastern-most end of King Street. More about the installation here: alexandrialivingmagazine.com/arts-entertainment/mirror-mi....

This is the fourteenth of, I hope, 100 portraits I will take of people (initially) unknown to me on exciting and historic King Street in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, as my spin on the 100 Strangers project. Visit my gallery King Street Unknown for more.

This is an art installation titled, "Mirror, Mirror" (by Michael Szivos of SOFTLabs) on display at the waterfront in Alexandria, VA.

Ideally, it should be seen just after the sun goes down or just before dawn as there are sound-activated LEDs which create some really cool light effects. But even in the daytime, it was still quite colorful and impressive. I used my Sony TX-30's "panoramic" mode to capture the whole installation in one shot. But to get everything into one long image (16 x 3.5 @ 300 dpi), it sacrificed some richness, contrast, and depth of color.

Site specific installation designed and produced by SOFTlab for the Frankfurter Kunstverein.

This is a "stitched" image from two photographs. My other photo shot in panoramic mode with my Sony TX-30 seems to have lost some of the richness, contrast, and depth of color while this one being slightly off-center – to keep my reflection out of the photo and the sun was shining just over the green and cyan mirrors overpowering all the colors and contrast – but definitely more vibrant and rich than the strictly panoramic version.
