We're lucky to get 2-3 snow days a year. For the past month, we've been getting 2-3 snow days a week. The cats are loving these lazy mornings! However, I'm ready for spring!
Today the snow came down all day in great big flakes, of just the consistency for snowman construction, that is not too wet but moist enough to cohere when shaped. Halfway through making our mini snowperson, two girls came up to us and asked howe made big round snowman parts. We showed them how to roll a big clump of snow around to pick up more volume, and soon they were at it, determined to make a proper sized snowman of their own. Half an hour later they sat back and surveyed the work of their labours. They dressed it in with their scarf and woolly hat and found some bits to make eyes and a face. They then took it in turns to have their picture taken with it, and took their leave of their creation. Less than an hour later it had been destroyed and cannibalised by other kids. Which is what tends to happen around here.
Grandpa Marshall was so good about taking the girls outside - nearly every day when it wasn't too bitter. This made him very cool.
we've been doing a lot of this lately. we set up 3 bird feeders and about a dozen pine cones with peanut butter and birdseed in our arbutus tree out frount. at first is was only the little birds that came, but now the bigger ones (and super interesting) are coming along with deer. it's been cute, every morning we see deer tracks and before christmas ben thought that it was the reindeer making sure they knew where they were going beforehand.
