This small birdfeeder is just the right size for the smaller birds, and a bit too small for the bigger birds.
Seen here is a House Finch couple, male and female, making the most of a quiet meal. The feeder is more or less sheltered by an overgrown camellia bush. Lots of shade, and nooks and crannies to hide in if necessary. Other small birds who like this feeder are the Chickadees, Titmice, Goldfinches and probably others I'm forgetting.
We have seen a few Cardinals manage to cling on to those round ports from time to time, but it must be too much work with not enough payoff, because they usually move on to the other, more accessible feeders.
