When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all
I'm on your side
When times get rough
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water

Parts of this song came into my mind when I brought my Alf to the clinic this morning and I had to do something with it. So this is a tribute to him.

I'm sitting in the railway station.
Got a ticket for my destination.
On a tour of one-night stands
my suitcase and guitar in hand.
And every stop is neatly planned
for a poet and a one-man band.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting silently for me.

Again, with Apologies to Simon and Garfunkel, and Shakespeare!
The season is fast approaching with a lot of snow flurries and heavy frost lately. Just alittle too early for me...............
Here's a classic from Simon and Garfunkel for you to enjoy.

There are so many song written to give you hope when one is feeling down. They are a dime a dozen...
What I'd like to say is "When you're winning, I'll still be by your side". Seriously though when things are going great in life people often don't realise the type of people that surround them. You end up with a list of accquantances and very friends...
So this my edit of the Simon and Garfunkel classic
When you're strong
Feeling tall
Every battle you face, you are winning
I will celebrate them all
I'm on your side
When times are good
And friends can always be found
Like a bridge over pristine water
I am rock solid
Like a bridge over pristine water
I am rock solid

+1 SOOC.
Couched in our indifference,
Like shells upon the shore
You can hear the ocean roar
In the dangling conversation
And the superficial sighs,
The borders of our lives.
- Simon and Garfunkel
Ohmygod Paul Simon is a lyrical genius. Listen.

In memory of the 2,996 lives lost (plus more than 6,000 injured) on that sunny, September morning in 2001 and the 6,197+ American soldiers who lost their lives in the three wars since...
But my heart goes out to the living; the survivors, the families, our troups, the millions of people around the world, who witnessed that day in person and on live television; a day and a sight we will never forget.

Inspired by the photography of Brassai and Paul Simon's and Art Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence".
When Becca saw that Brassai's image, she insisted she wanted to model it with her beau at the time, Tim.

An unusual picture for me but I just love the scene. It reminds me of the Simon & Garfunkel song Old friends.
Old friends, old friends,
Sat on their parkbench like bookends
A newspaper blown through the grass
Falls on the round toes
of the high shoes of the old friends
Old friends, winter companions, the old men
Lost in their overcoats, waiting for the sunset
The sounds of the city sifting through trees
Settle like dust on the shoulders of the old friends
Can you imagine us
Years from today,
Sharing a park bench golf course quietly?
How terribly strange
To be seventy.
Old friends,
Memory brushes the same years
Silently sharing the same fears
A little terrace concert that was unexpectedly entertaining, not in the least because of the way the "brothers" interacted with the steadily growing audience. The repertoire was also surprising, going from a song about a horny pigeon (with someone in the audience imitating a pigeon and telling an Erdogan / pigeon joke) to an improvised version of The Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel, with everybody singing and waving along to the lie la lie part

I like the blurb: 'Through figurative representation, 'Silence # 1.2 is a highly sensorial, emotionally evocative installation that uses objects and sculptures to liberate feelings of unrest.' The sculptor, Pimpisa Tinpalit, is originally from Thailand. She has been based in Melbourne since 2009 and founded BlackCat Gallery, Collingwood in 2016.
Look! It blossomed overnight! The title is a little play on words of a Simon and Garfunkel song.
Straight out of the camera!
I met "D" in Strawberry Fields, Central Park. We shared a park bench while listening to a live acoustic set of Beatles tunes. A very cool dude and quite the sharp dresser.
"Hello darkness, my old friend.
I've come to talk with you again.
Because a vision softly creeping
left its seeds while I was sleeping
and the vision that was planted in my brain
still remains
within the sound of silence."

This is my last roll of Kodachrome. The expiry date on the box is 2007. I don’t know whether to use it or keep it for posterity. For now, it sits in my fridge.
Kodachrome is the trademarked brand name of a type of color reversal film that was manufactured by Eastman Kodak from 1935 to 2009. As digital photography progressively reduced the demand for film in the first decade of the 21st century, Kodachrome sales steadily declined. On June 22, 2009 Eastman Kodak Co. announced the end of Kodachrome production because of declining demand. That was a sad day indeed. Many Kodak and independent laboratories once processed Kodachrome, but only one Kodak certified facility remains: Dwayne's Photo in Parsons, Kansas.
EDIT 30 Dec 2010: today is the last day that Dwayne's will accept Kodachrome film for processing :-(
Kodachrome is mentioned in Paul Simon’s famous song (see below). Some people believe that in the song, 'Kodachrome' is a metaphor for something else ;-)
When I think back
On all the crap I learned in high school
It's a wonder
I can think at all
And though my lack of education
Hasn’t hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall
Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away
If you took all the girls I knew
When I was single
And brought them all together for one night
I know they’d never match
My sweet imagination
And everything looks worse in black and white
Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the worlds a sunny day, oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So Mama don’t take my Kodachrome away

Day 9 of our "Travels with Jason".
"Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence . . ."

We were just about to begin our walk through the Mystic Arts Festival
when I noticed our reflection beyond the seawall in the algae filled river.
Decided this shot needed a little artistic flair; thus, the pastel texture!
