...because Sher (Little Red Raggedy) brought them to my house at the EXACT moment that we were all watching Colorado Balloon Boy "float" over the sky in the flying saucer that looked like a big Jiffy Pop container! haha! Sher and I were mesmerized! We couldn't take our eyes off the TV screen! We watched the soft landing in the field. THEN as soon as they said...the boy isn't there...I said to Sher...what if it is a HOAX! AND sure enough...hoax it is! This all happened not so far from my house...and quite near where Sher lives! How embarrassing to have Colorado in the news in THIS way!
Of course, I won't name them Jiffy or Pop! haha...but I might name them Emelia and Earhart! :D

Went out with the 300mm PF Lens. I've not used it much since it had been repaired and I'd forgotten what a great combo it is with the TC 1.4 converter

I should have waited for this show at the position of the previous photo, with the light reflected by the snow illuminating the ground, but I was a bit cold and went down and during the descent I had this show (that I had considered), therefore trying to stay in an area of the zone with a still fairly wide view.
It is difficult to best render similar contrasts and natural colors so powerful and saturated as to require a slight reduction in saturation during file processing, a difficult choice.
The strong contrast of both light and colors was not perfectly managed by the camera, while I should have used the tripod and decreased the shutter speed to better diffuse the light, therefore a better exposure that would have helped to contain noise and burned details.
I can say that it is a photo captured in the moment, without the appropriate equipment, but believe me that the show was truly unique.

I explained that they could rotate the head through 180º

This is the daytime spot (east facing window) if we have sun.
continuing on with the month of Conor. I did shoot some other things but the film isn't finished yet. for the most part, I photographed conor every day, either at this window or the other one.
he's had a busy month. many appointments. what feels like too many medicines. and lots of ups and downs.
there are a lot of ups and downs in old age. he is teaching me that.

p.s old age doesn’t stop him from modeling.

They don't hunt from great heights, and slowly descend in a series of parachute moves with the wings back, and the legs helping to control direction, its a bit like a leaf falling.
The last few metres they turn over, tuck up the legs, and dive headfirst into the grass, swinging out the legs again, just before impact.
I thought I should post something today since it's a World Photography Day. This is the famous plane wreck on Iceland's black sand beach. It was really cold and it's a long walk. On my first trip to Iceland the road was still open for cars, it was much easier and there was no one but me. But it's still worth the visit. This is my friend Rupinder Khural who accompanied me on the trip and is on Flickr too
I should perhaps explain "Peedie" Peedie is a traditional Orkney word meaning small and in this particular setting it obviously means "Small Sea" so it would be fair to ask how this come to be?
The reason is the sea in Kirkwall originally went all the way up to the steps of St.Magnus Cathedral and over the centuries the sea was reclaimed by the people of Kirkwall leaving only a very small Sea which would have been created by the Geological feature of an 'AYRE' which is a bar of shingle or stones forming on a narrow spit of land from the shore.
Recent Archaeological excavations very nearby to the Cathedral unearthed old piers possibly used in the building of the Cathedral.
Kirkwall's name comes from the Norse 'Kirkjuvagr', meaning 'Church on the bay'

Their ability to locate mice in the paddock is more than luck.
They seem to know where the nests are and just wait in the air for movement below.

This young Kite is raising and lowering its tail to indicate, to another Kite in the area, that the territory is taken.
I'm not sure that Kites can glare, but if they could, it would look like this.

The female of a pair had scored a Rat (Ratus ratus).
Mice are soft and flexible and go down easily. She was determined to consume as much as possible.
Her mate kept flying by hoping for any dropped scraps.

Beautiful Things should be part of life...
we all deserve as much happiness as we can squeeze from our lives - the things that authentically make us happy even better if there's love and devotion.
As I grew up, the family line of 'we're a cat family' but this year I've searched my soul, sat with myself to find out who I really am - not what society expects or dictates - but me 😁 because all that matters is you and your family's peace and love when that front door closes the rest of the world out.
Turns out - I may well be a dog person -

Okay I know to start with as we really get to know each there maybe a few mishaps - especially as it's my first time with this type of love (but I'm sure my love will carry me through with him until I learn !
He'll probably run off a few times, chew some things he shouldn't, have the odd accident!
But i've mellowed, whats a bit of damage for such loyalty, friendship, an enthusiastic greeting and a very pleased wagging tail as you walk through the door - 24 hours and the love in his eyes❤
Lesson learnt I definitely make my own decisions on what brings me happiness and puppy love I know now is for me - 'H' on the other hand is where the heck did this come from - I think he foresees Mom wanting to go on even more walkies ❤
