The 29th should be really is 1st. I do know that the prop and I swap spots on my husband's list of priorities.
My husband.
that is the wrong way to think as a photographer. The work should be great, and that is all that is important. If people want it, and want it to put on their walls, that's great too :-)

“Ladies should also remember that gentlemen look more to the effect of a dress in setting off the figure and countenance of a lady than to its cost. Very few gentlemen have any idea the value of ladies' dresses. This is a subject for female criticism. Beauty of person and elegance of manners in women will always command more admiration from the opposite sex than beauty, elegance or costliness of clothing."

"Whither would you go?
What country, by the nature of your error,
Should give you harbor?
...
Why, you must needs be strangers?
Would you be pleased
To find a nation of such barbarous temper
That breaking out in hideous violence
Would not afford you an abode on earth?
Whet their detested knives against your throat,
Spurn you like dogs, and like as if that God
Owned not nor made not you, nor that the elements
Were not all appropriate to your comfort,
But charter’d unto them?
What would you think
To be thus used?
This is the stranger's case"

Geschüttelt. Nicht gerührt.

Actually one should translate the catchphrase in German like this: Erschüttert, nicht gerührt ... which makes a completely different sense ;-)
I found the following a little interesting:
No other drink in book and film history is as famous as Bond's Vodka Martini. The agent licensed to kill has a very precise idea of how to mix this cocktail. The saying "Shaken, not stirred" is one of the most famous movie catchphrases of all time. Bond reaches for the glass on various occasions and in changing company. He drinks his vodka martini ice-cold, but without ice. So ice is put in the shaker, the vodka martini is shaken and finally the ice is filtered off. The name of the drink also causes further confusion: Martini is a very well-known vermouth brand, but Bond drinks his vodka martini entirely without this wine-containing ingredient. And James Bond wouldn't be James Bond if he didn't have an ace up his sleeve: Biochemists from the University of Western Ontario have found that the shaken variant with wormwood is healthier. In addition to the additional oxygen, it also contains more antioxidants that protect the body from free radicals.
- - - Well then ... cheers ;-)
I think my two virtual living room lights are having fun. And the mood goes with a drink, right?

Should you be lost in the enchanted wood,
be nice to all you see.
Because should you insult a witch,
a toad you very soon would be.
Do not be rude to the trolls,
they are sure to take offence.
They will use your eyes as ping pong balls,
and your bones will be their fence.
Do not laugh at goblin folk,
who are hiding in the trees.
They will paint you neon pink,
or any colour that they please.
Do not step on the gremlins,
although they are hard to see.
They may well switch your pillow,
with a hive of angry bees.
If you see the faerie folk,
don't try to grab their wings.
They can turn you into a toadstool,
to dance around in spring.
Be also nice to the giant,
who lives up on the mound.
He may take you on his shoulders,
to have a good look around.
Do be polite to the dragon,
if in an enchanted wood you are lost.
Because he thinks you will be crunchy,
and good with tartar sauce.
So, picture this: day three of the W Trail, and I'm chilling in French Valley. Boom! There it is – the French Glacier, hanging out on the west side of this gnarly mountain called Cerro Paine Grande. This beast is, like, 10,006 feet tall (3,050 meters, for all you metric folks). Crazy high!
Fast forward to today, day four, and guess what? I'm on the east side of that same mountain, feeling way closer than I probably should be. Those peaks look totally climbable, but trust me, they're not. These things are gonna be stalking me for the rest of the hike, I swear.
Speaking of stalking, turns out Cerro Paine Grande is the highest peak in Torres del Paine National Park, and apparently one of the biggest climbing bummers in Patagonia. It's got this giant glacier on top that's basically permanently hiding under a cloud blanket, and the wind never seems to take a vacation on that ice and rock monster.
On the bright side, the west side's got some pretty sweet hanging glaciers, and French Valley offers a front-row seat to a whole lot of epic avalanches (don't worry, I watched from a safe distance!). This whole mountain range is actually four separate peaks – Cumbre Principal (the main one, obvi), Punta Bariloche, Cima Central, and Cima Norte. You can see them all from the west and east sides of the park, but let's be honest, the views from here (east) are way more dramatic.
And speaking of dramatic views, the best spots to check out Paine Grande are the Pehoe Lake area and the Grey Lake/Grey Glacier area where I am now. Trust me, it's worth the hike!

"What should I say when I want to kiss
the side of your neck and leave it at that?
When I want to feel the heat of my own breath
bounce back and warm my lips
after I strategically place them
on my favorite pieces of your skin.
I want to leave goosebumps everywhere
I have not yet kissed
and spend the night trying
to read them like Braille."

Kizaki-ko should be freezing like Nakatsuna-ko, but it was not when I passed by. This is another shot taken from JR Oo-Ito Line.
The white patch of snow in the upper right is Oguma-yama Lookout that is also a popular launching site of paraglider.
The white tip of mountain behind Oguma-yama is Jiigatake (爺ヶ岳 2,670 m) or Granpa's peak. It is one of the major peaks of the Kita Alps mountain range.

I probably should have posted this yesterday. This is Ely Ford on the "big bend" of the Des Moines River and the hardwood covered bluff to the left is Lacey-Keosauqua State Park in southeast Iowa. Yesterday was the 100th birthday of the dedication of the park (Originally called Big Bend State Park).
Ely Ford is an interesting spot. It was a crossing spot on the river for the Mormons on their trek from Illinois to Utah. We visited the park earlier in the year and couldn't understand how anyone would dare trying to cross the river here in horse drawn wagons or in some cases hand carts. However seeing the spot this fall with the water level much lower it seemed the perfect spot to ford. The river is wide here but with the much lower water level, many exposed sand bars, and low banks on both sides of the river, it seemed possible.

We twa hae run about the braes,

But weʼve wanderʼd mony a weary fit,

I should probably use my wide angle lens more often because whenever I take it out I always love what it produces. As the title suggests this was taken looking down the stairs and to the city beyond in a stairwell at the Barbican Centre, London.

The fun of shooting (I should really say "attempting to shoot") Tree Swallows is that they are tiny fast birds that aren't bothered by your presence. In fact, they enjoy darting around and frustrating your attempt to photograph them. That said, they provide lots of opportunities and if you take enough shots, especially with the modern cameras that focus so quickly, it is possible. Even better, when you get them on the computer at home, and crop down, which is for me a necessity on birds this small, you sometimes find some prizes. Here's one in the act of catching a fly which you can see if you squint hard enough.

And I should have known better
to lie with one as beautiful as you.
Yeah I should have known better
to take a chance on ever losing you,
But I thought you'd understand.
Can you forgive me?
I saw you walking by the other day
I know you saw me, you turned away and I was lost.
You see - I've never loved no-one as much as you,
I've fooled around but tell me now just who is hurting who?
I should have known better
I should have known better
Its true, I took our love for granted all along
and trying to explain where I went wrong I just dont know.
I cry - but tears dont seem to help me carry on,
and now there is no chance you'll come back home,
got too much pride
I love you
I love you
No-no-no... I love you!
No-no-no... yeah!
And I should have known better
to lie with one as beautiful as you...

Blue and green should never be seen ….. I’m not convinced !
Seems to work ok for this Male Common Blue butterfly on grass in the meadow.
Friday thought.
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken. Oscar Wilde
Blue and green should never be seen without a colour in between ? Traditional Canterbury Bells in my garden.
the answer? I hope not, because I'm not going chasing after it!
I should be saving these as I'm likely going to be using archived shots for a while, but I can't help myself.
You should have seen by the look in my eyes, baby
There was somethin' missin'
You should've known by the tone of my voice, maybe
But you didn't listen
You played dead
But you never bled
Instead you lay still in the grass
All coiled up and hissin'
And I'm gonna keep on lovin' you
Cause it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep
I just wanna keep on lovin' you
