Sam is a new arrival at the Kitty Cat Cafe, and is a bit shy. I found her up high on this shelf in the back room, where it is quieter. She's three years old and would make a wonderful pet for someone.
That portal behind her leads to the main room,
Over the last weeks we had some very nice conditions here in Holland. Not only foggy mornings but also dramatic skies and thunderstorms. This shelf cloud was coming in my hometown Amstelveen just during sunset. I was just in time to go to the open field to witness. A wonderful experience.
Many thanks for your favs and comments. I really appreciate that.
Polypores are a large group of fungi (aka "shelf fungi" or "bracket fungi") that are important decomposers of rotting wood. They are often seen on tree trunks and rotting logs.
I've never noticed "green" bracket fungus until photographing this log at Old Mission Lighthouse Park in northwest Michigan. In researching this phenomenon, I have found many pictures of the "green" bracket fungus, but no classification, or explanation for it.
I think that, because of a lot of rainfall this year and the ensuing constant dampness, green algae has grown on the log surface and extended its growth to the surfaces of the bracket fungus. Whatever the cause, the fungus has presented itself in a very colorful manner.

Nice thunder storm moves in with a gust front producing about a 40 mph wind. Lost power for about 3 hours after lightning struck a power pole very close by.
There were no places left in the house where Simcha could not climb. Yesterday he chose a place on the medicine shelf.

Laetiporus is a genus of edible mushrooms found throughout much of the world. These shelf mushroom (kippezwam) are most commonly found on wounds of trees, mostly oak, as well as eucalyptus, yew, sweet chestnut, and willow, as well as conifers in some species. Laetiporus species are parasitic and produce brown rot in the host on which they grow.

Epidote shelf 1 of 2.
Well developed crystals of epidote, Ca2Al2(Fe3+;Al)(SiO4)(Si2O7)O(OH), crystallizing in the monoclinic system, are of frequent occurrence: they are commonly prismatic in habit, the direction of elongation being perpendicular to the single plane of symmetry. The faces are often deeply striated and crystals are often twinned. Many of the characters of the mineral vary with the amount of iron present for instance, the color, the optical constants, and the specific gravity. The color is green, grey, brown or nearly black, but usually a characteristic shade of yellowish-green or pistachio-green. It displays strong pleochroism, the pleochroic colors being usually green, yellow and brown. Clinozoisite is green, white or pale rose-red group species containing very little iron, thus having the same chemical composition as the orthorhombic mineral zoisite. The name, due to Haüy, is derived from the Greek word "epidosis" (ἐπίδοσις) which means "addition" in allusion to one side of the ideal prism being longer than the other.
This was not a storm, it was just a cold front racing over the East Grand Traverse Bay this afternoon pushing the warm air. It was moving so fast and the temp dropped by 10 -15 degrees. It was just amazing to watch!
Driving across far western Kansas on I-70, we drove under some thunderstorm cells and captured this shot of the associated shelf cloud. Unfortunately I did not have my dslr camera with my wide angle lens along, but this shot turned out OK with my Powershot camera. A dramatic sight indeed!
A shelf cloud ahead of a less than severe storm appears from beyond the trees as it makes its way into STL County, ruining the plans of Saturday grass cutters and baseball players.
Later in the day the next round of storms brought two week tornadoes into the STL area.

Well, that's it for my long series on the great shelf-cloud that
we witnessed in June of this year, during a worldwide pandemic.
Was hard to believe that after 'this-shot' above, my first photo,
it would turn into the most amazing extreme-weather shoot
of my life. Incredible to see. Thanks for looking - End Series
