The former, all wood, old Seoul train station began operations in 1900.
The Old Seoul Station 구서울역사 舊서울驛舍, which took the place of the original in 1910, was finished in 1925.
In 1981, the old station was designated as #Historic Site 284, and restoration and management was transferred to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
While the old station reopened as a cultural site in 2012, the new train station continued to expand.
The Southern Annex was completed in 1957; the Western Annex in 1969; a whole new station was completed in time for the Olympics in 1988; and, a new hi-speed terminal in 2004.

The locomotive is one of 90 Type GT26CW-2 units built in the U.S. by General Motors Corporation, Electro-Motive Division ("EMD") from 1971. Some of these Class 7100 locomotives remain in service today (2013).

The old Seoul Station building, although Line 1 of the Seoul Metro featured an entrance here. We were here to take AREX for one stop back to Gongdeok.
Seoul Station is a major railway station in Seoul, South Korea. The station is served by the Gyeongbu Line, its high-speed counterpart and the Gyeongui Line, with frequent high-speed, express, and local services to various points in South Korea.

An absolutely beautiful young lady I met at the Lotte Mart Outlet Seoul Station....she was easily the nicest person I met while I was in Korea; tall, beautiful elegant, sweet, kind, genuinely interested in learning about me, my country and culture...she was a food sampler, one of those people you would normally walk on past if you were in a hurry, but her smile captured me, and we chatted for 30 minutes...she made my day!

More fun from 남대문...
I asked these two young ladies (one a teacher the other a hardened American soldier - you guess which one), along with a few other intrepid travelers, to pose for a portrait or two in the busy market streets. I think they were happy to oblige, but those smiles could be fake.
I had to shoot quickly, though; it was the hottest day of the year and we were all in danger of melting like so much spent kimchi.
