ex UP 8036/ 3520- SD9043MAC. This is one of the re-builds recently released from the SD90MAC to SD70ACU program. You would have thought a Heritage unit was in the area with the amount of Railfanners chasing this. Enola/ Marysville, PA

Traveling from Glacier National Park to Banff, we took a little detour through Crowsnest Pass.
The rain had relented, and I had climbed through the house-sized boulders of Frank Slide, AB to capture a CP rail manifest that was stopped just short of the slide. I waited, and waited, and then the rain came back hard and I left.
The train I'd seen was a 2x3x1x1 manifest/loaded potash combo that had stalled on the hill. It would retreat and stall two more times before finally getting enough traction on wet rail to get over the steepest part of the grade and continue on its way.
As I was leaving, I noticed CP SD70ACU 7017 in Heritage paint as the trail DPU and decided it was worth a shot at Bellevue, AB.
That is Frank Slide on the mountain in the background. If you want an interesting read about a tragic event, go to Wikipedia and read the write-up there. It is incredible!
Ex-INRD SD90MAC leads coal empties past the fixed aspect distant signal for WR tower located about 2 tracks miles south of the interlocker. This signal, for now, remains in a classic style of signal hardware.
The relatively light amount of traffic on the Brooklyn District south of WR makes shots of this signal somewhat challenging.

The crew for NS 112 has been on duty for about 1/2 hour and are getting things ready for their journey west to Moberly. The yard job is in the process of making several pokes. From my vantage point, I could see several interactions between the crews -- like they were swapping stories about experiences on the railroad.
When the SD40-2 came to rest here, I had to wonder if the locos might have similar conversations...
