We are preparing a stand promoting modeling as role play in SL19Birth Community Celebration. There will be gifts and a lot of information, in case someone wants to follow that path.

Heliconius comprises a colorful and widespread genus of brush-footed butterflies commonly known as the longwings or heliconians. This genus is distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical regions of the New World, from South America as far north as the southern US. The larvae of these butterflies eat Passion flower vines (Passifloraceae). Adults exhibit bright wing color patterns to signal their distastefulness to potential predators.

Heliconius butterflies have been the subject of many studies, due partly to their abundance and the relative ease of breeding them under laboratory conditions, but also because of the extensive mimicry that occurs in this group. From the nineteenth century to the present-day, their study has helped scientists to understand how new species are formed and why nature is so diverse.

Because of the type of plant material that Heliconius caterpillars favor and the resulting poisons they store in their tissues, the adult butterflies are usually unpalatable to predators by bright colors and contrasting wing patterns, a phenomenon known as aposematism.

"The Scientist" by Coldplay

I was just guessin' at numbers and figures

Pullin' your puzzles apart

Questions of science, science and progress

Do not speak as loud as my heart

And tell me you love me, come back and haunt me

Oh, and I rush to the start

Runnin' in circles, chasin' our tails

Comin' back as we are

Thanks to model Richard de Grataine Suoh aka richardgratainesuoh, for his invaluable collaboration and great styling.

We were missing the mad scientist with the typical laboratory full of instruments. Thanks to people with this great creativity, much progress was made in the use of steam in the steampunk world.

Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry

You don't know how lovely you are

I had to find you, tell you I need you

Tell you I set you apart

Tell me your secrets, and ask me your questions

Oh, let's go back to the start

Running in circles, coming up tails

Heads on a science apart

Nobody said it was easy

It's such a shame for us to part

Nobody said it was easy

No one ever said it would be this hard

Oh, take me back to the start

The impressive Eldhraun lava field is the biggest lava flow in the world. It occurred during the Laki eruption of the late 1700s. The enormous site, which is 565 square kilometres (218 sq mi), is where the Apollo 11 crew trained for their moonwalk.

The Laki eruption lasted from 1783 to 1784, and Icelanders know it as the “Skaftareldar”. Scientists consider it the most poisonous eruption occurring during historical times. It is fair to say that this was a cataclysmic event, not only for Iceland but also for Europe. In Iceland, it caused disease, crop failure, and famine. As a result, between 53% and 82% of domestic animals and 20% of the human population perished.

With my favourite time of the year coming up, I decided to build a mad Scientist House that's hanging over the riverside on stilts.

Originally I hadn't planned for the house to be Halloween themed and I was going for more of a steampunkish look. Although, once I had built the pipes on the outside walls, I kinda just thought it'd make a good house for either an inventor or scientist.

The stilts were inspired by Aunt Joesphine's House in A Series of Unfortunate Events, I also took inspiration from the houses in Lake-Town from the Hobbit.

Thanks for looking and Happy Halloween!

#122/365 A quick snapshot I took when I got home from work tonight. I saw these glasses at the 99cents store and had to get them. I don't know what it is about making your kid look like a dork that is so adorable. Here he is, the mad scientist aka Professor Whinger. I really went nuts with the post process..just trying different things, so I know this might be too soft for some. Have a great weekend.

I've been busy the last few weeks (work) and I haven't had much time for photos. Apparently while I've been frantically working, my minifigs decided to build an active volcano on my kitchen table :-) Last night I found the new female Volcano Scientist photographing the lava. I hope they clean up the mess :-)

I'm trying to get back into the swing of taking pictures especially since the Olympics are starting today :-)

Still on series 11 today with the scentist. The regular kind, not the mad kind. This one is mostly based on my memories from the lab in school, as I went on to study IT after that and stopped fiddling with microscopes and other typical science lab equipment. Although a part of me still wants to have my own lab where I can conduct crazy science experiments ...

My favourite part of this one is the microscope. Really wanted to create one that resembled a real microscope as much as possible, which is really hard when you still want it to be small enough to work with minifigs!

I had intended to put a petri dish in the form of an upside down trans clear round tile under the microscope, but I forgot to when taking the picture. Ah well.

Three scientists named Jean, Koto and Drake have hired the spaceship IEV: Sunshine to go to planets far, far away for an expedition. The expedition’s main goal is to find plants that could be used as a cure against the virus that now are threatening several civilizations on different solar systems. We all hope they are successful in their exploration of this blue and green planet!

I love the colours green and blue and to build crazy flowers! I built a spaceship last year that is an Interstellar Exploration Vessel (IEV: Sunshine) and I thought it needed a mission!

Just back from my visit to North Korea with Young Pioneer Tours and many thanks to them for the great guides and well-planned itinerary. There are more images and stories to come and do private message me if you have any questions or experiences to share with me.

On the last evening in Pyongyang, our guides took us to the Future Scientists street, or known as Mirae Scientists street. One of the standout architecture there was this and I managed to get a few exposures to have enough light trails on the road. Pretty neat buildings there. A great shoot to round off an enjoyable time in North Korea.

Mr. Rock Squirrel is a Mad Scientist in Golden Valley Az. who plays around with chemistry, in his underground Laboratory and wants to help solve all the Worlds problems.

Rock squirrels dig burrows with their sharp claws and muscular legs. The burrows provide shelter, safety, living space, and food storage. Burrow systems can be complex and lengthy, as they are enlarged over a period of years. Entrances are usually hidden beneath rocks and can be larger than 3 inches in width. Wikipedia

A bit of AI art for your morning pleasure. My AI seems to have captured my look of the girly mad scientist. I feel like this some days when I begin a new mesh project. I may sculpt this someday and have as a gift for followers. Have a great weekend everyone

Being bald myself, I had to admire this guy's hair and beard. HIs costume was very cool also. He told us that he had come from the East Coast to attend this event.
