Kakunodate is a former castle town and samurai stronghold in Akita Prefecture, Japan. The samurai district today has some of the best examples of samurai architecture and housing in the country.

A hall that was filled with many suits of samurai armor, housed in a section of Himeji Castle that has never before been open to the public. It was the largest single collection of its kind that I've seen, and visitors were standing in stunned silence at the barricade, hardly daring to whisper. The door for viewing the hall stood to one side, so that it was not possible to face these shadowy figures directly, adding to the sense that you had stumbled upon an assembly of the fabled warlords of ancient Japan, and were very much out of place and time.
The Superheavy Samurai warsuit was developed in response to the strange mechanized monsters deployed by foreign invaders, this particular unit is utilizing a Cross Naginata and undermounted water-cooled machine gun, the latter being salvaged and retooled technology from the foreign invaders.
Part of a Steampunk/Dieselpunk meets Feudal Japan project I'm working on as an event display.

One of my first high speed photographs; three light bulbs hit with a (cheap, reproduction) samurai sword.
In this photo you can see the caterpillar blowing its scary yellow horns up to frighten me away. They do not have eyes and can only sense light and dark. It is amazing how they have such defenses!

My entry for the Tri-Color category of the 2020 Summer Joust. Photography was really fighting me on this, but I really like the build itself. Doing this requires an obscene amount of 1x1 round bricks and 1x1 bamboo pieces but after more Bricklink orders than expected, I barely got 3 angles of 100% LEGO!
Based on the helmets of early Spanish or Portuguese visitors to Japan. Apparently Japanese artisans were extremely adept at incorporating new ideas.

A build for the Melee Mashup competition over at the Brickarms Discord Server. The build should contain a mashup of two distinct themes - I've chosen Samurai and StarWars.
Here we see the Emperor at rest in his royal blossom garden. He is protected by his two Royal Guards. In front of him Doi Wada the ronin seeks patronage by defeating Lui KaiWanaka the last Galactic Samurai. In the foreground we see an assassin droid and to the right Lui's comrades Han, Wubacca Ar-Tu and Thri-Po
in a second shot we can see a ninja kite flying into Assist the Ronin
