A close look at a striking flower of Bidens ferulifolia 'Samurai', a garden hybrid. Bidens ferulifolia is a native plant in Mexico where it is known as Apache beggartick or Fern-leaved beggartick with reference to their barbed and bristly fruits. This is also reflected in the generic name Bidens composed from ‘bis’ and ‘dens’ meaning respectively ‘two’ and ‘tooth’ in Latin. Taken in the garden. Bath, BANES, England, U.K.

A little mist and maybe a mountain back drop and play The Last Samurai music from H Zimmer in the background then you know why I chose the title. Ok the mountain back drop is not in the image, but the very soft mist and light made up for that. Wonderful conditions like these when I am on my own is when I begin to just switch off and take it all in what nature can throw at us. There are some huge Scotts pine in this woodland but are very difficult to catch as my photography is mostly very close up in the woodland. However, the bark on the main trunk from these trees always deliver, just adds another element of structure a variation from the deciduous trees I mostly capture.
Another variation happening soon is my camera, bumping up the pixels you could say as I have now had my Z6 checked out, and it has a slight problem with focus after a nasty drop a while back. My woodland lens got slightly damaged too, so not going so well on the equipment side of things you could say. However, the lens I have has been checked out, and as I suspected does not affect the imagery thank God. It is a dilemma as equipment is expensive, maybe not for some but for me it’s always been a pain. The Z6 III was in my sights but I was slowly weighing up reasons why should I buy it. For my woodland and landscape images I do not need a fast processor, yeah ok when wildlife appears it’s a treat, but I have caught 1 stag, 2 deer’s and a woodpecker in 5 years. So, no I do not need it, and tbh the price is out of my range.
So, I checked out MPB online and the rest is history, second Hand almost new Z7 is on its way, you can get these now for around 1200 €, that still is a lot of money for me but after contacting them they were still going to accept my Z6 for some cash back. Broke my heart sending the Z6 away, we have lived out so many trips together and it was my first camera, also second hand back then. Never let me down but the one fall together was one fall too many. My own fault as well, it can be a hazard in my age chasing light like Usain Bolt, although it must have looked funny when I went flying into a fallen branch and cussed for about a minute at my own stupidity.
So, let’s see what lies ahead with the new camera, watch this space.

My entry for the Tri-Color category of the 2020 Summer Joust. Photography was really fighting me on this, but I really like the build itself. Doing this requires an obscene amount of 1x1 round bricks and 1x1 bamboo pieces but after more Bricklink orders than expected, I barely got 3 angles of 100% LEGO!
Here's my second entry for the Iron Forge 2023.
The seed parts are swords.
In this build I used 11 swords.
4 at the facade of the temple, 4 as roof of the side left building, 2 as trees and 1 as path/bridge leading to the temple.
