Here is the bulletin cover we came up wtih for Father's Day. We are relatively set on it (ie: don't have a lot of time left), but definitely open to feedback. Wanted something fun, but still hitting our target of 40-ish (and up).

A CH-47 Chinook crew from Bravo Company, 1-126th General Support Aviation Battalion, was called to assist aviators from the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center from Fallon, Nev., on Jan. 5, 2012. One of their Navy MH-60S Seahawk's had crash landed during a training mission high in the Toiyabe National Forest near the U.S. Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center (MWTC), northwest of Bridgeport, Calif. All four crewmen aboard were able to walk away from the Dec. 21 incident but now the Navy wanted their aircraft back. The California Army National Guard flight crew from Stockton landed on a bald hilltop at 9,200 feet and was escorted to the crash site by Marines from the MWTC. Over the next few hours U.S. Marine rigging specialists from the Combat Logistics Battalion 17, specially called up from Camp Pendleton, worked with their fellow Devil Dogs trained in alpine, rock, and snow warfare, to prepare the pre-stripped helicopter for extraction. Taking guidance from a Naval MH-60S crew chief and the experts flying the tandem rotor hauling machine, the multi-service recovery team was able to pluck the 15,000 pound fallen bird, which was painted as an opposition force "enemy" aircraft, above the pine trees, down the canyon and back to the MWTC. Everyone watching, including representatives from the U.S. Forestry Service and the MWTC Environmental Office applauded the safe and successful operation. The aircraft, which lost its tail end during the hard landing, will rest on the Marines tarmac while it is subjected to further pokes and prods as key personnel continue to investigate how the incident happened. These fellas are returning from Stewart Grain with 50 loads and are now swinging eastward toward Lafayette. They're riding the old SE interchange track of the NYC and NKP, now entering the NKP east. These days this is all KB&S territory.
It was a cold winter morning, and the arcades were silent at Joe's Playland. But while standing outside, I could almost hear the bells and sounds of pinball machines, people laughing and having a good time as they win ticket after ticket and claim their prizes before they go off into the cold winter.

Sunny was due with a friend for a live vote. Unfortunately her friend didn't turn up and we had all those pies... so Sunny was our pied girl that day!
This 5-toothed structure, also called a "horn lantern", is the feeding mechanism of a sea urchin used for scraping algae off rocks. It was described and illustrated by the philosopher Aristotle in the 4th century BC. The particular lantern comes from a green sea urchin (Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis).
This handsome Costa's hummingbird is creating a bit of a stir here on the Sunshine Coast, where it's never been seen before. Costa's are normally found in desert or semi-desert areas and breed in the Sonoran and Mojave deserts of California and Arizona. This feisty specimen has been hanging out around the home of the former mayor of Gibsons, Barry Janyck, for the past couple of weeks. Another male Costa's also found its way to British Columbia and is being seen in a Vancouver neighbourhood (a ferry ride away).
Many thanks to Barry for opening his home to me and allowing me to take endless photos of this gorgeous hummingbird from his deck. I enjoyed our talk as much as I enjoyed watching the hummingbird! BTW, Gibsons is the home of the former TV series, The Beachcombers which some of you older mateys might remember, especially if you happen to be Canadian.
There are only a few ways to photograph this alley way empty; on championship weekend in New Orleans. Get up real early and hope. Or wait for the zombie apocalypse. I had to catch a cruise ship so I went with the former.

Mulgrave Country Club played host to the Bowls Victoria Under 25 Women's Singles in January 2015. One of the competing bowlers from Bendigo (pictured) was heard to comment "They've got the same shirt as us". Unbeknown to her, it was in fact her Bendigo Bowls Club who had copied our Mulgrave design when recently upgrading their shirts. Every effort is being made to ensure no other clubs replicate the Mulgrave Country Club uniform design.

Death and cold is closing in, there's nowhere left to hide. The tree's grown old, the bark's gone cold, it lost it's will to fight.
