It's a deadly jungle for lots of creatures in my back yard with all the spiders. Here is one spider in the process of wrapping up his dinner. While I was taking these shots, he ran off twice and grabbed some little flies to add to this sticky bundle.

Her face-up is complete! Now I just have to get all of her eyechips in, her hair freshened up, and her head on her pure neemo body! Can't wait for her to be done!
She is been hanging out with me and my peeps, and is finally going home to help her mama move in to their new home, and unpack boxes
You can see in Cleo's eyes that she is worried ! She has problems, REAL problems ! Poor Cleo has a bald spot on her neck which seems to grow every day. So we paid her beloved vet a visit yesterday and he took various samples for further examination. The results will not arrive before middle of next week. In the meantime I have to cover the bald area with a special ointment twice a day. Smells awfully and looks like glue ! This will certainly not enlighten poor Cleo's mood. Hard times ..... (for both of us) !

The S.S. Catalina is a unique ship, the only one of her kind on the West Coast. Commissioned by William Wrigley, Jr., she was the last in a line of steamships that served Santa Catalina Island since the 1860’s. She was built at the Los Angeles Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company in San Pedro, California, at a cost of over one million dollars. On December 26, 1923, her keel was laid in a ceremony hosted by William Wrigley, Jr., and officials of both the Santa Catalina Island Company and the Wilmington Steamship Company. She was launched 17 weeks later on May 3, 1924. Marcia Patrick, the sister of the Wilmington Steamship Co. president, was given the honor of christening the new ship.
S.S. Catalina sailed her maiden voyage on Monday, June 30, 1924, with 600 passengers aboard, including company officials and specially invited guests. She was welcomed into Avalon Bay by the sounds of cheers and the music of the Whittier Band.
From 1924 to 1975, S.S. Catalina sailed daily during the summer months. Through the years, she carried over 20 million passengers in comfort and safety, more than any other ship in history. These passengers enjoyed the ships amenities, which included such features as a ballroom and a live band.
During World War II, S.S. Catalina served with honor, transporting a total of 820,199 troops across San Francisco Bay and down river from Camp Stoneman, Pittsburgh, CA to waiting troop ships in the San Francisco Port Of Embarkation for service in the Pacific war zones, this was more than any other military transport carried during the entire course of the war. Commissioned by the United States Army as USAT Catalina, FS 99 during her War service, she served from August 25, 1942 to April 15, 1946. After the War, S.S. Catalina returned to passenger service.
Retired from passenger service in 1975, she was taken to Ensenada, Mexico in 1985 and began the first of several failed business ventures. Eventually her owners abandoned her and after several years of neglect she slowly settled to the bottom of the harbor, resting half-submerged in about 20 feet of water.
In the after afternoons
When there comes big, starey moons,
Often we've heard Micky playing
By the window, fairy tunes;
But I don't know what he's saying
In the after afternoons.

A desert hummingbird, Costa's Hummingbird breeds in the Sonoran and Mojave Deserts of California and Arizona. It departs the desert in the hottest days of summer, moving to chaparral, scrub, or woodland habitat.
Small hummingbird. Green upperparts. Male has iridescent violet crown and gorget (throat patch). Gorget extends out sides of throat. Female has white throat and underparts, sometimes with some violet feathers.
I actually got my lens pretty close, and have lots of images, he graced me with this spot for a minute or so, and gave me numerous chances. As I am going through the images, this one stands out because the light is hitting the throat patch perfectly. in 99 out of 100 - the throat patch appears black, or the bird is looking right at me (will post those too)
Lim's Café sits on a nice little stretch of Highway 99 once known as the Miracle Mile in Redding, California.
To quote my dad, "if a restaurant advertises both Chinese and American food, it's a safe bet they don't do either very well."
I'm not sure about the food, but their sign is one of the best in town.
This is one of the last shots I took in the empty warehouse at Zondervan. It's short though the windows overlooking the swampy area behind the building.
I love where I'm at, but I still miss this place and the good people I worked with there.
Note: This is a old photo. I've been inactive due to a relocation and new job. This photo was taken on Wednesday, January 23, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
I had a wonderful time with this baby's breath. Only challenge was finding a focal point. Also, when working with my macro lens, the focus had to be so tight that if I moved even slightly, the image turned out blurry. Still, these tiny blossoms were lovely to work with. You'll see a few more images with them in the future.
Also, what is the consensus for using text overlays in photographs? Love it, hate it? Would you get bored if you saw it frequently in a photographer's work? I love working with text but am concerned about using it too often.
Explored! Thank you so much!

Cullum's was a department store based out of Augusta. They were bought by Atlanta-based Uptons, who then departed from the mall in 1993. Uptons was Regency's first vacant anchor; the building has sat vacant ever since.
Regency Mall opened in 1978 with Montgomery Ward, Cullum's (later Uptons), Belk, and J.B. White. A rape/murder case and a shooting, as well as changing demographics, brought about the demise of the mall. Uptons closed in 1993, followed by Belk and the movie theater in 1996, J.B. White in 1998, and then Wards in 2001. The mall itself closed in 2002 and has sat empty ever since. It was raining when I took these pictures, so most of the shots are from the car.

This one is from back in June a few minutes after Eros' Blessing. After the sun fell below the horizon the sky lit up in vivid orange and pink to the south, leaving me scrambling to find a composition to fit it into.
