Man Fabric at last! A rustic and geek combination of patterns with no florals or paislies whatsoever. Having noticed the latest duck boot trend on college campuses across the USA; I sought to make a rustic fabric set to please the scholar and geek (such as earth tone candy dots that look somewhat digitized in formation; and paper airplanes flying over the Pyranese mountains); with matching patterns that are rustic/grunge but comfortable (such as worm eaten wood, peeling paint, and, old book paper stripes)

The two smaller top drawer fronts are from the one piece of timber. How lucky to find a piece with natural indents in it, perfectly positioned for handles.

July 2006

I was down at the bay at sunrise & saw this kingfisher (kotare) on the old wharf post. It was a really pink light so the colours of the kingfisher are not evident (not sure how I could have compensated for that). However I thought the kingfisher looked real nice & warm on a chilly autumn morning!

Horse shoe worn by my precious horse blue serves as a closure for this Reflection journal featuring Revere Suede Book paper. I really love this one... but I have to pay rent...

About the materials

Paper: Revere Book Suede by Magnani, off-white

Revere, which means to regard with respect tinged with awe, is an appropriate name for this beautiful ivory 100% cotton, neutral pH, chlorine-free, internally sized, deckled paper mouldmade in Italy.

Revere was not a range of fine art papers that was created overnight; but rather, a dedicated project by the Magnani paper mill that was two years in the making. The result was a fine art paper range of superior quality, consistency and versatility.

Manufactured utilizing energy generated by Magnani's own water turbines, Revere is composed of fibers sourced from tree-free 100% cotton linters, naturally acid-free, neutral pH and chlorine-free to endure the tests of time.

Endpaper: Egyptian Papyrus

Papyrus was, and continues today to be handmade from the papyrus reed that grows in freshwater marshes along the river Nile, though today this growth is rare and controlled. Egyptians considered it the "everlasting" paper because it has been found in perfect condition in tombs dating back to 2700 B.C. I love the texture!

Cover: Stoned Oil Cowhide, burgundy

This leather has a deep richness because it has been treated with oils, waxes and dyes in such a way that when the leather is pulled or stretched, the finish becomes lighter in the stretched areas, which gives an "Old World" effect or "aged" look. The color returns when heat or friction from rubbing a cloth or your hand is applied in that area. This is considered a mark of high quality.

Looking back to Winter Hill from the West pennine moors. The mast is lost in the leaden skies somewhere?.

Built by David Spangler, Revision Division, The RE Store

These rustic mirrors were inspired by the antique warmth of 20th century farm houses. The rough character of the wood was left as a tribute to the past, and scraps were selected and paired for their blemishes. Fitted around salvaged mirrors, each of these pieces is built of 100% reclaimed and repurposed material.
