This photo was taken at my breakfast table, at around 4:30 pm. I am glad that I caught the light at this time, as it produced excellent colors in the wood of the table and the salt and pepper shakers. For this particular photo, I added a Sharpen mask, adjusted the curves, and added some contrast, all in Photoshop 6.0.
How does the use of only natural light influence the composition and detail of an inanimate object? In this photo, natural light is responsible for the stunning color in the table and wooden salt and pepper shakers. If I had taken this same photo using artificial light, I know that I would not have seen the same effect. The sunlight also helps to show the intricate detail on the bowl, making for a more intriguing subject.
This bird, rarely seen outside of Alaska, was found December 6, 2014 in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco and seems to like hanging out with a wintering flock of Dark-eyed Juncos, White-crowned Sparrows, and Golden Crowned Sparrows. Seeing it today was a nice Christmas Present.
