The River Tamar forms the boundary between Cornwall and Devon. Rising only 4 miles from Bude and the Atlantic Ocean, it flows south, slowly at first, for nearly 50 miles to the English Channel. In its middle reaches, the River Tamar winds its way through steep wooded country.
This is also an area strewn with the relics of two centuries of mining and is part of Cornwall's and West Devon's World Heritage Site. On the Cornish side is Cotehele Quay, once a busy port on which the local community depended.
We are constantly in a rush; rushing to where we are going; rushing for many other reasons., but... why rush? In the midst of the hurry, we might just miss the finest moments of our lives. We only live once; the last thing you want to do is to rush through it.

A number of you have asked how I got to this vantage point. Well, I had to jump the fence and balance on the beam ;-) NOT! Actually, around each tower there is an observation platform which extends over the lanes of traffic. Nothing extreme here, just out on the well fenced platform.

Everyday we have to rush through the evening to get back home after a tiring day. Eventually we get so used to it and never could take a moment and just enjoy what is happening around us.

RUSH RANCH, SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- A few years ago I attended a Nocturnes workshop at Rush Ranch. As usual, I always show up early and start shooting before it gets dark.
At Rush City I was surprised to see stored hoppers at the shuttered flour mill, making it appear as if the big customer was still active.
