The Colosseum
or Roman Coliseum,
is an elliptical amphitheatre in the center of the city of Rome, Italy, the largest ever built in the Roman Empire.
It is one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and Roman engineering.

The German Warship UJ-2216 was actually a luxury yacht, built in Leith (UK) for Henry de Rotschild, named Eros. She was taken over to the Marine Nationale Francaise during 1939, when she was at Le Havre, and renamed to serve in Meditarranean as AD 196.
At the end of 1942 she was captured by the Kriegsmarine, and transformed in anti submarine corvette with the name of Uboot-Jäger UJ 2216. Her new base was Genova. On September 13, 1944, she was escorting two minelayers to La Spezia harbour, when the convoy was attacked by an allied torpedo-bomber: two torpedoes hit the corvette, causing the explosion of the depth charges: the stern was completely destroyed, and the "KT" sank rapidly. Six men of the crew died, and seventeen more were missing.
Now, she is a very nice dive in Liguria, with a very scenic front twin AA-Gun.

I went out between passing showers, and caught this snail 'flat out' and scurrying to find a dry place before the next cloudburst. Good thing it didn't have far to go..... :))

The rock you see fingers out about six foot. Last summer I went to the very edge.....very bravely I might add because of the rushing waters and my fear of heights....got very dizzy looking through the camera and sound and look of the waters. So this year I opted for about three foot back.

The Pabineau Falls are recognized in the Chaleur region of New Brunswick for their grandiose beauty! Located in the Pabineau First Nation, the falls are on the Nepisiguit River and are surrounded by breathtaking nature. Gegoapsgog is the mi'gmaq name for this location, and it means "at the top of the falls".

Well at this point I don't actually know what happened but I was the one holding the camera and aiming to capture this rushing gushing tumbling little cauldron of water at Golitha Falls.. So I take the credit/blame for the shutter speed etc but not the crop factor here. I was using my macro lens as a short telephoto as I now do fairly often as It is a handy focal length. What I don't know is how five shots got cropped/elongated in camera. I did notice at the time that these five photos, shot on continuous high (in the hope some would avoid handshake as not using a tripod in this confined little spot ) were this shape and quickly ran through settings that I use and got back to regular 2x4 size photos but still don't actually know what I touched to make this happen. I do know that the interchangeable dials and joy stick on my Nikon cameras have lead me a dance before- answers on a postcard lol...
Taken at f/5.6 iso 200 @ 1/40 second using a Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM and using a small handrail to prop the camera on for stability.
More lockdown garden photos. This rush I found self set from somewhere, it was about 20cm tall when I found it in a pot amongst other plants, its now 50cm after replanting by the pond.
Yes indeed, it's rush hour and they're backed up shell to shell. Was so fun to watch this huge group of turtles jockey for position to go up this tree. Counted 18 of them in this area at one point in time. Taken at Aqua Caliente Park which is a beautiful, large palm oasis with walking trails, multiple ponds, all sorts of wildlife, historic buildings, an art gallery and an island. Such a great place to get "off the grid" and enjoy some peaceful, back to nature time.

This location is one of my favorite places to photograph and is very close to home. The light here changes so drastically, so quickly, it never looks the same.
In this image cars and trucks pass over a dam in the early morning hours as fog rises from the river to the lake like a waterfall.
Lockdown has caused people to find other things to do, like deer watching. A great way to spend an afternoon.

We are constantly in a rush; rushing to where we are going; rushing for many other reasons., but... why rush? In the midst of the hurry, we might just miss the finest moments of our lives. We only live once; the last thing you want to do is to rush through it.

A number of you have asked how I got to this vantage point. Well, I had to jump the fence and balance on the beam ;-) NOT! Actually, around each tower there is an observation platform which extends over the lanes of traffic. Nothing extreme here, just out on the well fenced platform.
