Cader Idris consists of a massive 11km long ridge and although only the 19th highest mountain in Wales it is the second most popular mountain in the country after Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon.
The mountain range looms menacing over the surrounding landscape, the actual summit of Cader Idris is called Penygadair.
Had a drive around Clywedog reservoir this evening, spotted these three lambs playing on an old drystone wall, Powys, Wales, UK
With these shots today I wanted to see how infra red would treat the cows. These cows at the Pyengana Dairy have just been milked (as the one in the previous shot) and are following the routine of walking back to their grazing paddock. Behind them the whole valley unfolds. The infra red gives it a magical impressionistic appearance and those shadows of the cows are very pronounced.
As I was taking my photographs the sheep wandered up to the fence to see what I was doing. They sensed no danger and they seemed to enjoy the experience. I know I did. It was lovely to see some little lambs jumping around in the half light as well. Spring was in the air and that lovely natural pink hue in the clouds emerged with the morning sun.
[Definitely enlarge to see the sheep.]
Or just a little bit of green. A lovely scene from the Heuvelland region in West-Flanders.

Kilchurn Castle is a ruined structure on a rocky peninsula at the northeastern end of Loch Awe, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It was first constructed in the mid-15th century as the base of the Campbells of Glenorchy, who extended both the castle and their territory in the area over the next 150 years.
The fields were alive with blue hay bales! But I wouldn't have been surprised to hear Julie Andrews coming down from those hills and singing. This summer has been a good season for making hay.
This is simply a cropped image, so it is not strictly a panorama.
The old Sligachan Bridge is now only for pedestrians and cyclists and has been replaced by a new bridge on the main road. You can find the old bridge just next to the new bridge on the A87 . The bridge was built between 1810 and 1818 by Thomas Telford, with three spans, this rubble bridge has a pronounced hump.
Sligachan is a small settlement on Skye, Scotland, close to the Cuillin mountains and provides breath-taking views of the Black Cuillin mountains and the River Sligachan.

In the previous photograph I explained the physical law of entropy. It is actually the most fundamental law in the universe. The only way entropy can be overcome is with an additional input of energy, i.e. work.
Here we see a once workable hut reduced to a ruin by the law of entropy. All things must return to their natural state. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. You get the idea. So here we see the old hut's iron roof rusting away, its wooden boards rotten, and within a few short years (perhaps less) it will collapse with only the brick chimney left standing.
Already the trees are starting to grow inside and twist the building around on its axis. I didn't go inside because I'll wager there were one or two snakes in there too. And all Tasmanian snakes are venomous.

I nearly didn't get this shot. As I was shooting the sheep on the hillside it started to rain. I quickly made my way back to the car and got behind the wheel. And it struck me. Out of the corner of my eye this rainbow appeared right within the very field itself. I've seen lots of rainbows in the sky (covering quite a large area), but never a compact rainbow that you can fit literally inside a football field.
So out came the camera as I rushed to get the shot, knowing that such a phenomenon could not last long. Marjorie was delighted too. She immediately thought of her mother. Doris Baylis' favourite song was "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and we played it at her funeral.
I am also aware of several John Glover paintings of rainbows too, and there's one he made just up the road in 1832: "Patterdale landscape with rainbow"
cs.nga.gov.au/detail.cfm?irn=63905
And one of a double rainbow he made in England too: "Landscape with Rainbow and Cattle" www.artnet.com/artists/john-glover/landscape-with-rainbow...
And I realise Glover had the same concerns about needing to capture the image quickly as this title suggests: "A Rainbow painted from Nature while the effect lasted" www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/P_1963-0209-1
Both these last two Glover's are double rainbows. And if you look closely at my photograph you will see there is in fact two rainbows here too. The upper one is not so bright, but it is thicker and can be seen best in the top left hand corner.
So a double blessing. Doris Baylis would have been pleased, and Marjorie felt her presence as we stood and watching in awe. It's fitting then I leave you with Judy Garland's magnificent performance of the song in "The Wizard of Oz", as we gaze on a rainbow in an emerald green field in the Land of Oz (Australia).
