Morning capture of a typical "Monte Alentejano" (main housing cluster) located on small peninsula of olive grove surrounded by the waters of the Caia reservoir, in Alentejo, Portugal.

This is a fantastic place fare away from the rush of the city, where one can appreciate the life in the country as it used to be.

Mount Taranaki, or Mount Egmont, is the centre of attention of the Taranaki region on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. It is a dormant stratovolcano and one of the most symmetrical volcanic cones in the world. It is located in a national park with intensively-farmed dairy pasture reaching right up to the mostly-circular park boundary.

This is shooting about as close to home as you can get. Our barn shot from down the road.

Last week, there was another show of frost which was just amazing to see. With it being sunny outside, I couldn't help but take a short drive out of town and take a few shots before the frost was blown off the trees.

Thank you for viewing and for leaving me a comment! Have a wonderful day and weekend!

Memories left behind on the wall, along with the peeling paint and an old frame….

The photo was taken on a misty autumn morning in Mecklenburg Western Pomerania.

Rural scene in Brandenburg

I have been driving past this barn on an occasional basis literally for decades, but the light was never "right", at least until one day last Spring. The years haven't been that kind to this barn, but (like so many of us) it's still standing!

Poppies are always a beautiful sight in the countryside. That's chamomile in the foreground.

Hurlestone Tower was built in 2000 near Lilburn in Northumberland. It was built by the owners of Lilburn Tower, to celebrate the new Millenium. The tower is an observation and conference venue built in the style of a country house folly. It is named after the nearby Medieval Hurl Stone.

Northumberland, England.

Captured on the same morning as an earlier photo posted here, this is an HDR rendition of the scene. Lots of indirect, cloud filtered light is mixed with the rays of the low-lying sun.

The most famous of the many waterfalls and flumes in the first few miles of the River Severn's existence.

Moel Hebog over Beddgelert, Eryri/Snowdonia, Gwynedd, Cymru/Wales, UK

Moel Hebog dominates the view west from the village of Beddgelert. It gives name to a whole range of peaks in the north-western corner of Snowdonia, which include the Nantlle Ridge and Mynydd Mawr.

The scenic village of Beddgelert is found at the heart of the Snowdonia area of Gwynedd, North Wales. Bordered by dramatic mountain landscapes, Beddgelert stands in a valley at the confluence of Afon Glaslyn and Afon Colwyn with the village centre just above.

Words couldn't possibly describe what happened on these fields in July, 1863. We can only try to remember those events and vow never to repeat them

In the past two days I've shown you the view at Turners Marsh looking west towards the setting moon. Today we get a chance to turn the camera around to the east. This beautiful rural valley is rich pastures for sheep and cattle.

The first thing we notice here is the beautiful early light as the sun makes its way to the horizon. But if you look closely you'll see evidence of a slight overnight frost. To the left under that big old tree you'll see a resting cow taking in the scene. Et in Arcadia Ego.

[If you double click enlarge you can see a Kookaburra on the wire fence behind and to the right of the cow.]

Autumn has returned to the White Mountains and these sheds at the base of Cathedral Ledge are brightly offset by the turning trees.

This barn is brilliantly illuminated by the afternoon sun in the White Mountains.

Something different for the new year. Winter was always a challenge, especially in upstate New York. I recall a lot of these dreamscapes, or at least I imagine I do.. Warm thoughts from sunny Florida.....

Forget about decorating the trees. Let's see what happens if we make them glow without the bulbs!

In this photograph taken from the Ross Bridge as the sun set very low in the west, I'll let the picture be the poem. As I said in my previous shot today, I have not messed around with my colours. These last two shots are as I saw them looking south across the still waters of the Macquarie River in Ross.

The deciduous tree branches have caught the dying golden rays of the sun, and the calm water reflects them like a mirror. The hills in the background seem to be caressed by the gentle light. It is a scene of pure serenity in a world gone mad.

If there is one lesson to be learned from this picture it is this: We are born of Nature and we are part of Nature, and so long as we return to Nature all is well with our soul.

Note the sheep in the foreground who are going to cross the River Dove which is the boundary between Staffordshire & Derbyshire here in the Upper Dove Valley.

Clun Castle sits high on a natural rocky mound in a loop of the river Clun, on the edge of the small, picturesque town of the same name. Founded shortly after the Norman Conquest to demonstrate the authority of the English monarchy over this part of the border region, the castle and the nearby settlement prospered in the 13th century thanks to the management of the Fitzalan family, but suffered a number of attacks from across the Welsh border. It was used as a hunting lodge in the 14th century, but was increasingly neglected, and by 1539 the castle was reported as ruinous.
