Sunflower field in Jeen lae Mount Lopburi Beautiful natural attractions not far from Bangkok. Both Thai and foreign tourists tend to visit the beautiful end of the year. The sun will bloom at that time.

Not a million miles from where I live, the Hastings River hides the living heart of my home town. I'll miss it while I'm away taking photos in distant places, but the good news is, I'll be home for December and the heat of summer.

I always work in themes - it's my way of fighting the random chaos that seeks to overwhelm the human soul in modern life. So there are more cows and rural scenes today. There are a million and one pictures of cows on Flickr today, but there is only this one cow. It shall always be unique. It shall always be its own truest representation of the animating Spirit.

The true wonder of photography is its ability to capture a moment. A moment that disappears as quickly as it appeared. This fraction of a second has never been before and will never be again. We often overlook that fact as we plunge headlong into an unthinking future. That's the perennial human problem. We forget to stop, look, listen, and commune. Is this not what our friend the cow is doing here?

A small flock of sheep graze the lush grass in the area of ??Fanari, Karditsa. In the background, the small but historic castle of the village is clearly visible. It is a relatively recently carefully restored and illuminated medieval fortress at night.

The village itself is a semi-mountainous settlement with mainly stone houses, both folk and mansions.

The area is of great natural beauty, especially in spring with the wild flowering koutsoupies (Cercis siliquastrum) or Judas tree and, I think, has been rightly described as "the little Tuscany" of Greece.

Καλή Ανάσταση σε όλους!

Happy Easter everyone!

The Menai Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Menai Strait between the island of Anglesey and the mainland of Wales. Designed by Thomas Telford and completed in 1826, it was the world's first major suspension bridge. The bridge still carries road traffic and is a Grade I listed structure.

I've seen plenty of green plastic wrappers for round hay bales, but blue is a first for me. It does look a little like a Christo and Jeanne-Claude exhibition. But I can assure you that whilst they did visit Australia for one of their largest projects in 1968-69, they were never here. christojeanneclaude.net/artworks/wrapped-coast/

Magnolia blossom at Lake Jervey near Northport, Florida. The Magnolia flowering plant species is named after French botanist Pierre Magnol.

The wild flowers bordering the field, the barley growing at a pace in the warmer sunshine .........

It didn't rain all through the afternoon. The weather patterns here change very quickly. the strong winds would blow one set of clouds away and the sun would break through. All this rain means that the farms around Marrawah never have to worry about drought. It is some of the richest farmland in the country.

Small farmers and livestock breeders who are forced to practice this hard profession, exposed to all weather conditions, at an advanced age to supplement their meager pension income which does not exceed 400 euros.

As photographers we have a special opportunity to create with light. Perhaps it explains some of our megalomaniac personalities (only joking), because in many sacred traditions God's first creation was with light: "Let there be light."

But we can't create scenes as spectacular as this, we can only register them on our camera sensors and hope that we won't do a disservice to it in our processing of that image. I was fortunate to see this. The timing was critical since it barely lasted a few minutes. Since I was driving away from the mountain, it was only that I happened to catch it in my rear vision mirror than made me stop the car.

I could easily have called this one, "A Mountain on Fire", but I'll save that for another time.

As we drove up the dirt road to our lodgings just outside Stanley in Tasmania's north west, this is the view that greeted us. We had seen clouds all afternoon, but in this case it seemed a single large fluffy one had just sat itself right over the farm and Sleepy Hollow Lane.

Thank you very much for the visit and comments. Cheers. (cyber mix) from an original shot in Busthinia country, Barcaldine region, Queensland, Australia - following a large bushfire in November 2012, which burnt out 50,000 hectares.

The Pyengana Valley has rich pastoral lands. Most of the properties here are dairy farms. On this old farm we catch a group of calves sunning themselves near a stream that runs through their paddock.

This fine and solid stone building dating from at least the 1850s is now a ruin. The question is whether someone might invest to restore it (perhaps as a Bed and Breakfast). More than likely it will disappear into the mists of time and eventually collapse completely. It is a sad situation, and yet those stones could tell a story. Perhaps this place is even haunted by its own ghost.

Reflections on Caban coch reservoir, Powys, Wales, UK

Caban Coch is part of a series of Elan Valley Reservoirs that include the Claerwen, Craig-goch, Pen-y-garreg and Garreg-ddu.

The man-made lakes were built to provide drinking water for the people of Birmingham, the reservoirs are owned and managed by Welsh Water.

This field has not been used by cattle for a little while and so the dandelions have been allowed to grow. It presents a beautiful yellow carpet that leads us through the layers of trees, mountain and sky.

Winters can be really harsh in Iceland. Heavy rain, very strong winds and dense fog can persist for several consecutive days...

Cader Idris consists of a massive 11km long ridge and although only the 19th highest mountain in Wales it is the second most popular mountain in the country after Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon.

The mountain range looms menacing over the surrounding landscape, the actual summit of Cader Idris is called Penygadair.

Rural scene from Midsummer night. Mutsunda

Had a drive around Clywedog reservoir this evening, spotted these three lambs playing on an old drystone wall, Powys, Wales, UK

With these shots today I wanted to see how infra red would treat the cows. These cows at the Pyengana Dairy have just been milked (as the one in the previous shot) and are following the routine of walking back to their grazing paddock. Behind them the whole valley unfolds. The infra red gives it a magical impressionistic appearance and those shadows of the cows are very pronounced.

As I was taking my photographs the sheep wandered up to the fence to see what I was doing. They sensed no danger and they seemed to enjoy the experience. I know I did. It was lovely to see some little lambs jumping around in the half light as well. Spring was in the air and that lovely natural pink hue in the clouds emerged with the morning sun.

[Definitely enlarge to see the sheep.]
