This is a photograph from the 2nd Annual Rock 'n' Roll Dublin Half Marathon which was held in Dublin, Ireland on Monday 4th August 2014 at 08:30. The Rock 'n' Roll Dublin Half Marathon also incorporated the Athletics Association of Ireland (AAI) National Half Marathon Championships which was open to all eligible runners registered with an AAI affiliated athletics club. The race started in Dublin City center at North Wall Quay and Castleforbes Road on the Liffey. The route then went West out of the city bringing runners along the famous South Quays to Inchicore and then taking a slight northerly direction into the Phoenix Park. The race finished in the Phoenix Park with runners following over half of the course within the grounds of the famous park. Over 7,000 people took part. The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series is one of the largest running series in the world with events primarily taking place in North American Cities. However, recently the franchise has spread to Europe. One of the unique aspects of the race is that every course features live bands along the course along with cheering teams of supporters at water stations. In the Phoenix Park today there was a large entertainment area at the Finish line for competitors, families and friends to enjoy.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. This is a photograph from the first annual running of the Edenderry Athletic Club 10 Mile Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Edenderry, Co. Offaly, Ireland on Easter Monday, 28th March 2016 at 12:00. The race today also included the Offaly AAI Clubs 10 Mile Road Race championships which was open to any fully registered athlete who is a member of an athletics club in Co. Offaly. In total over 200 people took part in the event which drew a large contingent from Co. Offaly but also from clubs and locations around the midlands and leinster. The race was very well organised and started close to the Edenderry Tullamore Road at Kilfane Cross and proceeded to head North Eastwards towards the village and townland of Rhode, Co. Offaly before turning back (at around 4.5 miles) for the return to Edenderry and the finish. The race route crosses the Grand Canal at two points between 4.5 miles and 7 miles. Overall the windy conditions certainly did not help runners in the first five miles as this acted as a head wind. Otherwise the weather was cold, clear and bright. The return to Edenderry seen runners run the 1st mile in reverse and return to the finish line in Oakland's Community College in the center of the town. There were water stations at two points on the route and all major junctions and laneways were well stewarded. Traffic was also controlled on the roads to allow the race to proceed safely. The timing and event management was provided by PopupRaces.ie

The route of the Jericho 10K run in Oxford goes through Port Meadow, a large meadow of common land home to horses and cows.
Experimenting with running Slackware 13.37 with Virtualbox on a 3.0 GHZ Intel Pentium 4 HT 3 GB Of Ram system.
This is a photograph from the East of Ireland Marathon Series (EOIM) which was held in Longwood, Co. Meath, Ireland on Saturday 23rd of March 2019 at 09:00 onwards. The Series includes a 5km, 10km, half marathon and full marathon race held on a well-known and reasonably fast loop around Longwood and the surrounding countryside. The race was held in near perfect running conditions with little or no breeze, March sunshine and cool temperatures. The 5KM loop starts and ends in Longwood GAA club and runs clockwise through Longwood village. This set of photographs were taken on the beautiful country boreen which provides runners with the 2KM to 3KM stretch of the loop.

My aim was to get some shots with the Mamiya on a tripod in Wellington railway station, was told to leave as I can't shoot here without a permit. Just happened to find this fella at the right moment and fired of this shot hand held on the way out.

This is a photograph from the start of the 36th Michael Manning Memorial "Dunshaughlin 10KM" Road Race and Fun Run which took place in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, Ireland on Saturday 20th June 2015 at 19:30. This race is widely acknowledged within the Irish running community as one of the best races in Ireland. While being very well attended and competitive it is also one of the oldest 10KM races in Ireland. The numbers for this race have exceeded expectations year on year for the past number of years. In 2008 a record field of 306 took to the start line but by 2012 this number had more than doubled with 647 runners taking part. The starting numbers in 2013 topped this again at 668. Last year, 2014, the numbers rocketed to a new record of 883. This year 862 finished the race showing that the race continues to attract very substantial crowds. This year, as in previous years, the race attracted runners from not just all of Leinster but from the four corners of Ireland. Who knows but this race could reach 1,000 entrants next year. The work of the organising committee must be commended on making this event possible. The Dunshaughlin 10KM has earned it's place at the top of the pedestal of Irish running through the sheer hard work of Dunshaughlin AC over the years. Road race events do not survive on their own. There must be dedication, hard work and a development vision amongst the committee and the host club. Well done to all.
