Ruby-throated Hummingbird

The first week of Sept I quit feeding the hummingbirds to encourage them to start their long migratory journey south while the weather and nighttime tems are still warm.

More photos of Ruby Throated hummingbirds in the garden enjoying the dog days of summer and stopping by the feeder often for a sip of nectar. Mostly females in this set.

Although my feeder has been quite active all summer, activity seems to have picked up recently. I suspect that the ruby-throated hummingbirds (Archilochus colubris) are getting ready to migrate.
