This series is of the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds that took up residence in and around my back yard and garden this past Summer.

I found it amazing how perceptive these little creatures are. They would fly rite up in front of me and hover when I would enter their space . I think to say please leave my space, or hover and feed within a few feet of were I sat or stood, but point a camera in their direction and poof they were gone. Still I have managed to get a few pics of them . here are a few of my favorites.

Got this one in the flowers just beyond the feeders

The males are so timid that I've had trouble getting decent shots of them.

This hummingbird kept coming to my window this morning. I couldn't figure out why and then I realized he was looking at the flowers on the kitchen table! So I put them outside for him to check out. He wasn't really interested after all and left after me getting a quick shot!

Sometimes it's peculiarity not quality that piques my interest in a picture. This photo leaves me with the question, How many toes does a Hummingbird have? Also, the way the Hummer merely drags her feet along as dead weights makes me wonder if swimmers couldn't take the hint that all their kicking is a dreadful waste of energy.

I appreciate any comments, hints, or corrections you'd care to offer about any of my postings or albums as well as the educational information you attach to your own postings-- including the whats and whens.

Leucistic Ruby-Throated Hummingbird. I can't believe it! I was on the phone looking out at the garden and this little guy stopped by! Wow!

Checking me out. At one point, she was hovering within a foot of my face, way too close for this lens, so I just stopped and enjoyed the moment.

Love to get these guys flying in the drink

We've had a sudden surge in hummingbirds at my house.

It's always a pleasure to catch one of these beauties "in action."

These are from yesterday and today. Gotta love the fact I don't have to go more than 75 ft from my side door for these.
