Green glasses are green because the color green runs through them. Is it 'color' or 'colour'? We'll leave that the linguists.
Anyway, we're sure "The glass is always greener on the other side" makes for a much more interesting and confusing saying.

"It was a little budding rose,
Round like a fairy globe,
And shyly did its leaves unclose
Hid in their mossy robe,
But sweet was the slight and spicy smell
It breathed from its heart invisible.
The rose is blasted, withered, blighted,
Its root has felt a worm,
And like a heart beloved and slighted,
Failed, faded, shrunk its form.
Bud of beauty, bonnie flower,
I stole thee from thy natal bower.
I was the worm that withered thee,
Thy tears of dew all fell for me;
Leaf and stalk and rose are gone,
Exile earth they died upon.
Yes, that last breath of balmy scent
With alien breezes sadly blent!"

Well, the top has been soldered on with 14K medium hard solder....note, no pits...and the solder extends to to the base of the bezel as well. On the first 'run' with the solder.... many gaps remain. Then I pickle...add more solder, and make a second run...many gaps will then close spontaneously as I bring it up to temperature...before the new solder fuses.....more heat, and the new solder flows. Pickle...and repeat as necessary. This took about 4 runs. Once I'm absolutely sure no gaps are present.....and I'm finished with the soldering process...do I file up the outside to shape....before filing up there is a very slight 'overhang' of the white gold plate. Notice on the previous shots that the outside edge of the plate is wider than the inside edge.....this was to allow for this 'overhang' which was removed during filing up....leaving the stones centered on the finished plate.

'An annular eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are exactly in line but the apparent size of the Moon is smaller than that of the Sun. Hence the Sun appears as a very bright ring or annulus, surrounding the outline of the Moon' en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_eclipse
Yay! I finished the final arc last night. Not sure if I'll reverse applique it to the background or piece it in. While I'm deciding I'll get to drafting the two flying geese ribbons so that I can paper piece those.

This 2 ounce silver high relief coin is from the Providence Metal Pirate series.
If you're interested, "high relief" means the stamped image is very deep compared to most coins.
For the purists out there, this isn't really a coin per se, the term for this is a silver "round". A coin is issued by a government and has a monetary denomination stamped on it.
