Harry's Rootbeer is pacific coast iris hybrid, from Matilija Nursery in Moorpark, CA.

Pacific coast hybrids are also considered to be a California native iris. This color is very unusual for the native varieties. In the wild, they are typically purple and/or white. This deep red color is fantastic. I've never seen anything like it. Well technically, I purchased it when it was not in bloom. The breeder at the nursery described to me what it looked like and said it was yet to be released. I had to have it.
