We miss you Killer bunny :(
Having a pet put to sleep is such a hard thing to do, even if you know it's for the best. This was the last photo I took of her, so sad.
...placed upon my Grandmother's Singer sewing machine. The rag rug made by my other Grandmother, little rocking chair and stool from auction and garage sales. The kerosene heater was a gift from my sister-in-law. The rug was made in 1967 and is probably the only one left that she made. Behind the chair is the sewing box that belonged to Aunt Jean.

It's that time of year; the lights are on the house, the tree is up...and our shopping is already pretty much done.
I didn't used to like Christmas much, but I've learned to. Having someone to celebrate it with helps.
My family has had a bunch of these wooden ornaments for as long as I can remember, and this one in particular has always been my favourite of them.
They had another one of these they sold at auction and the guy we spoke to didn't know the history (owner was in France last week while we were there). Never seen anything like this in the store, everything else is nice looking.
Is this not about most horrible rocking-chair that you've ever seen (although if none other available I'm sure a Poff would use it).

I had never heard of the book, "The Silver Chair" before this month's scavenger hunt, so I had to look it up and found out it was one of the Narnia stories. I couldn't resist adding a green serpent to the chair once I saw the synopsis of the story.

Tecumseh, Michigan (Lenawee County)
(excerpted from "Beyond The Boulevard: Historic Buildings of Tecumseh, Michigan" by Diane E. Proctor)
This modified Greek Revival house was built by Elisha Anderson, a carpenter of some renown in early Tecumseh history. The front hall and entry were designed and built to align with the house Anderson's twin brother Elihah built directly across the street. Both houses are basically Greek Revival but have modifications which render them infinitely interesting and unique.
Dr. Increase S. Hamilton bought the property in 1863, and his family owned it for 40 years. Born in Massachusetts, he arrived in town in 1844. Always an ardent supporter of education, he worked first as a carpenter and then as a teacher to put himself through Fairfield Medical College in New York. Once located in Tecumseh, he devoted himself to the practice of medicine and surgery. Along with Dr. M. A. Patterson, he was one of the earliest medical practitioners in the area.
A staunch Baptist, Dr. Hamilton was instrumental in the building of the First Baptist Church in 1865 on the Union Street corner across from his home. After his death, his widow Anne built a new home behind the church, which she later willed to the congreagation for a parsonage..
Dr. Hamilton's daughter Harriet married Albert Brewer who lived in the other Anderson-built home across Chicago Boulevard (Anderson-Beardsley House). The Brewers' daughter, Harriet Albertine Fitzsimmons, eventually inherited both houses.
(Jeff's note: this house also appears in Linda Godfrey's "Weird Michigan" book as an allegedly haunted location... I've spoken with the home's previous owners who put me into contact with the current owners. The current owners were gracious enough to allow me to explore the un-occupied house to my heart's content. I found no ghosts nor secret tunnels leading to the Anderson-Beardsley house across the street)

Why do people like rocking chair?
Rocking is relaxing because it releases endorphins in the brain, which in turn improves mood and reduces stress. A rocking chair provides a familiar, consistent setting and can produce feelings of nostalgia and calm {Sharing The Knowledge 7.28.23}
Time to put Christmas away at Ft. Harrington. We hope your season was warm and safe and that the new year brings you peace.
When my husband & I were dating, we rescued this little chair from the trash in South Boston. It didn't have a seat, or any paint, and needed some reinforcing. My husband did the repairs and I did most of the patching and painting. My brother lent me his nice stencil set and I stenciled the fish. We gave the chair to my best friend's daughter, and then a few years later my friend was nice enough to pass it back to us when her daughter had outgrown it. By then we had a little girl of our own.
This rocking chair belonged to my great grandma but has gotten passed down to my grandpa. This chair was used by my great grandma to rock all of her kids. This chair was used around the 1930’s. The chair was used in Northwest Iowa. My grandpa still has this chair because it was passed down to him and it was his mom's.

À trois
Sam Mourier
Il était bon le repas
De petits plats et de vin fin
À la lueur des bougies
Et du jazz dans un coin.
Les yeux brillants les joues rougies
On a bien mangé tous les trois.
On a remis le même disque
Rentrés chez nous à la maison,
On dansé dans la pénombre
Comme soudés par la musique
Tous les trois vibrant à l’unisson
Jusqu’au profond de la nuit sombre.
Avant que le sommeil nous prenne,
On s’est serrés et dit : « Je t’aime »
On a fait tout ce qu’on a dit
Glissant au son des mélodies.
Quelle soirée passée à trois :
Toi, Mélody Gardot et moi !
