Gotta love wild tights from Children's Place. =)
Despite that my daughter isn't all-out girly and is pretty darn low-maintenance--she'd always prefer to have her hair left down...no ribbons, no doo-dads, no ponytails, no nuthin'...and if she could leave it unbrushed every day, all the better--she's in this stage where she LOVES to wear skirts and dresses. I'm rather surprised, although I don't know why. She's never cared specifically WHAT she wears like a lot of little girls, but when I give her a choice she always wants to wear a dress and tights.
Too bad Mommy doesn't have all that many of them for her. Mommy's a jeans and cute shirt kind a girl....But this was the combo we were able to pull together this day--a rather impressive feat since we were running rather low on clean laundry....
Every fall I cut back all my geraniums and put them in cold storage.
Every spring they never disappoint!

This look and body language is so typical of our glorious Howie: Something in his expression that is so interested and concerned and looking right into your heart. He takes my breath away.
Today was the last day of fabulous trip to see the beautiful people, I mean city, of Copehagen.
Today's photo doesn't really tell the story of the day - I just like it!
Normally we do very little on a fly day, but in this case we had to check out by 11 and didn't have to be at the airport until 3, so we checked out at ten and decided to go and look at some more stuff.
We started in a lovely public park dedicated to a physicist - a rare thing, and more on that later.
Then we moved on to the Rundetaarn or Round Tower. This was a 17th Century observatory which is the oldest still working in Europe, though these days only used by amateurs. It offers lovely panoramic views across the fairly low city, but one of the accessible areas was the bell loft of the neighbouring church. This rocking chair was sitting there in the most beautiful light, and so it's got the spot for POTD. :)
Now to go through more photos and steel myself for a hard day in work tomorrow...it's GCSE time!
This bentwood rocking chair, made in Poland by Thonet, .is a re-issue of the original Thonet rocker.
My grandmom requested I take a picture of where i put the rocking chair she gave me. Its been in the family a very long while.

Six word story: The rocking chair had been stilled.
The full moon is barely peeking above the fence, while the reddish tree on the right is actually a pine tree being lit by a Low Pressure Sodium streetlight in San Jose (used to combat light pollution). This is a 10s exposure.
Another joint effort. This one needed a good clean and wax and some tidying up before handing back to the boss for the cane work. There were some unfinished repairs and a rough area of wear on top that just needed finishing but otherwise it was a good, solid chair.
If I had it, I'd spend a week in Cape May, NJ, sitting here and reading a good book. Maybe I'd get up and walk the boardwalk once in awhile too!

We were in Atlanta yesterday afternoon and took an hour or so to explore a few streets in the Lenox Park area of East Atlanta - an older neighborhood that had fallen into decline in the 1960's and is being lovingly restored by newer residents.
This is the relaxing garden at the house we stayed in during our San Diego trip. The rocking chair, ferns and plants were so inviting.
A great day to celebrate with friends, and then sit by the window looking through photo book memories of family and travel :-)

This is not the sort of furniture we usually see at bus stops. I hope people treat it with respect so it can be enjoyed by all.
4. Antique in 120 pictures in 2020
meg checks out the fit on her new custom made shoes (from summomo2 on etsy) she is thrilled to have shoes that don't pinch or fit like clown shoes! she's also testing out the newly mended rocker broken when the boys got a bit rambunctious. one of the arms snapped off and we glued it back on. now we are deciding whether to leave it white or do a right funky paint job on it to cover up the mended area.

One of the most amazing things about moving to a very tiny town is that this a place with history that people remember.
Sunday was amazing -- a light breeze and bright sun and 80 degrees out. Neighbors sit on their porches and rake their yards and do a whole lot of waving and chatting on days like this. It's also the kind of day when people just stop by -- I love living in a place where people just stop by.
Two men stopped by to return a chain Ali had lost in the snow while he was pulling their truck out of a ditch last weekend. Turned out one of the men grew up in our house!! He walked around with us explaining where the barn and the smokehouse and the ice house and the hog pen used to be. And he pointed into the near woods to where an old road used to run, leading back to a house that used to stand on a little rise -- not far from where I stood when I took this photo.
Yesterday in the late afternoon I put the dog on her leash and headed into the woods to search for that road. I'm pretty sure I found it ... along with the most amazing things -- newer relics. I don't know what this rocking chair is about but I do like how I felt coming upon it in the woods.
