I was visiting the Natural Bridge State Park and saw a couple of rock climbers on the opposite side of the river. I like the way the shadow falls on the face of the rock to her left.
The vivid, possibly lurid, green seaweed is a real stand-out on this rock on Druidston Haven beach, Pembrokeshire, west Wales.

Smith Rock State Park is an American state park located in central Oregon's High Desert near the communities of Redmond and Terrebonne. Its sheer cliffs of tuff and basalt are ideal for rock climbing of all difficulty levels. Smith Rock is generally considered the birthplace of modern American sport climbing, and is host to cutting-edge climbing routes. It is popular for sport climbing. The geology of Smith Rocks is volcanic. It is made up of layers of recent basalt flows overlaying older Clarno ash and tuff formations. Approximately 30 million years ago, a large caldera was formed when overlying rock collapsed into an underground lava chamber. This created a huge amount of rock and ash debris that filled the caldera. That material solidified into rock, becoming Smith Rock tuff. A half million years ago, basalt lava flows from nearby volcanoes covered the older tuff. More recently, the Crooked River cut its way through the layers of rock to create today's geographic features. Smith Rock itself is a 3,200-foot (980 m)-high ridge (above sea level) with a sheer cliff-face overlooking a bend in the Crooked River (elev. 2600 ft), making the cliffs about 600 feet high.
"Rock This Country!"
I woke up this morning with a buzz rollin' 'round in my brain
I haven't been drinkin' but it feels pretty good just the same
It must be contagious-looks like it's goin' around
It's cool once you catch it-you can't keep your feet on the ground
C'mon, c'mon-let's get something started
C'mon, c'mon-let's start something now
We're gonna rock this country
We're gonna rock this country
Every brown-eyed boy-every blue-eyed girl
Gotta really go psycho-give it a whirl
We're gonna rock this country
Right out of this world
Ah-oo-na-na-na...
From Utah to Texas, Minnesota, Mississippi too
Or Nevada, no matter where you live-this buzz is for you
C'mon, c'mon-let's get something started
C'mon, c'mon-let's start something now
We're gonna rock this country
We're gonna rock this country
Every brown-eyed boy-every blue-eyed girl
Gotta really go psycho-give it a whirl
We're gonna rock this country
Right out of this world
Ah-oo-na-na-na...
Ah-oo-na-na-na...
We're pluggin' in the power
Crankin' up the sound
It's comin' your direction
It's headin' to your town
We're kickin' up dust
Blowin' off steam
Let's get nuts now
Everybody scream
We're gonna rock this country
We're gonna rock this country
Every brown-eyed boy-every blue-eyed girl
Gotta really go psycho-give it a whirl
We're gonna rock this country
Right out of this world
Ah-oo-na-na-na...

A different look out at the world; found on our way down into Spring Canyon.

Summer 2018 3rd leg: We'd planned a few weeks in southern Colorado, then wised up and went to Utah instead.
June 17: We started at Chimney Rock and hiked down Lower Spring Canyon. A repeat hike for us, but it was totally worth doing again and we made it even further than we had last time.

The rock continued on like a never ending stream rounding bend after bend. I would look up occasionally to the mountains around us and off in the distance and realise how far we have yet to go; in my mind thinking that our end goal, The Nuns Veil, would be looking down over all those ranges that now tower over us.
It was a sobering though, but for the most part my time was consumed focusing on each step and making sure I'm heading in the most direct and efficient path through the rock maze.
The three of us wandered between the rocks at times all in a line snaking up the stream and at other times we would split, each of us thinking we had found the most efficient path through the rock ahead only to find that we would all converge almost every time at the same spot. Never the less we continued on in this fashion.
It was a constant decision making process and nothing like following a well trodden path where the mind is able to wander off to far away places. Here it was a constant considering of whether to take the more direct rougher path of the less direct smoother path. Not one of life's bigger decisions but in a marathon mind game it all counts.
