This is from last Saturday in the snow and is the Robin who had been keeping an eye on me. When I went down to the 'bracket' tree, I turned around and he was about 2 & 1/2 m from me!
Ah, Spring! A Robin who lives our yard is absolutely fearless during brooding season--just watched him chase off a Blue Jay. Yesterday it was a Starling. And he's perpetually at war with the Grackles.
Perhaps tomorrow he'll take on a Woodpecker.
Or a cat....

The robin was designated the official state bird of Michigan in 1931 after an election held by the Michigan Audubon Society. The legislation noted that "the robin redbreast is the best known and best loved of all the birds in the state of Michigan." The robin is also the state bird of Connecticut and Wisconsin.
