Like hundreds of diamonds glistening in the sun, this bokeh IS the sun filtering through the trees and the hosta flower almost seems serendipitous!
This acoustic version of "Her Diamonds" by Rob Thomas is worth a listen...

Happy #MonoMonday
"She said it's cold outside and she hands me my raincoat.
She's always worried about things like that.
She said it's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault.
And she only sleeps when it's raining,
And she screams and her voice is strained...
And
She says baby,
It's 3 am I must be lonely.
When she says baby,
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
The rain's gonna wash away I believe it.
She's got a little bit of something, God it's better than nothing.
And in her color portrait world she believes that she's got it all.
She swears the moon don't hang quite as high as it used to.
And she only sleeps when it's raining.
And she screams and her voice is strained...
And
She says baby,
It's 3 am I must be lonely.
Well heaven she says baby.
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
Says the rain's gonna wash away I believe it.
She believes that life is made up of all that you're used to.
And the clock on the wall has been stuck at three for days, and days.
She thinks that happiness is a mat that sits on her doorway.
But outside it's stopped raining...
She says baby,
It's 3 am I must be lonely.
Well heaven she says baby.
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes
Says the rain's gonna wash away I believe it.
Well it's 3 am I must be lonely.
Well heaven she says baby.
Well I can't help but be scared of it all sometimes." ~ Matchbox Twenty, 3 AM

Rob Thomas - 'Now Comes The Night'
"Now comes the night
Feel it fading away
And the soul underneath
Is it all that remains
So jus slide over here
Leave your fear in the fray
Let us hold to each other
Till the end of our days"
A little explanation regarding this one:
As you have probably guessed the sunset here can be taken literally to fit with the name of the song "Now Comes The Night". It also goes quite well with the line "Till the end of our days". However it also has a deeper meaning. Rob Thomas explains that this song is about dying; but more importantly, not dying alone. The setting sun was viewed by many cultures as a symbol of decline, final phase, illness, fading and death. Many people around the world still hold this to be true.

Anytime you need a friend I'm gonna be by your side. When nobody understands you...Well, I do..." - Overjoyed.
Matchbox Twenty, North Tour. St. Patrick's Day. St. Augustine Ampitheater, 1340C A1A, St Augustine, FL 32080 #MatchboxMonday
I attended the 2013 IBM Impact conference in Las Vegas (8,000 attendees) and Matchbox Twenty was the musical guest. This provided an opportunity to shoot a name band with something other than a cell phone. I've admired the photos by Todd Owyoung of ishootshows.com so I was interested to see what I could capture. The band put on a good show and I had fun shooting it.
I’m cleaning out a storage closet this week, and today I came across this old concert ticket tucked in a drawer. I’m not usually one to save things like this, but I’m glad I did. Looking at the ticket info I immediately remembered that time, living in the city and so close I could walk to the theater. Walking home after the show on dark, empty streets then sitting on my quiet balcony just watching the lights of the city on a warm summer night.

American pop-rockers Matchbox Twenty are back on the road with their fifth studio record North.
They played a long and very mixed set of old and new material and even threw in a cover of Rolling Stones' hit Jumpin' Jack Flash.
The Counting Crows and Rob Thomas - lead singer of Matchbox 20 - shared the stage at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino for an epic live performance.

Oh what the hell she says
I just can't win for losing
And she lays back down
Man there's so many times
I don't know what I’m doin'
Like I don't know now
By the light of the moon
She rubs her eyes
Says it's funny how the night
Can make you blind
I can just imagine
And I don't know what I’m supposed to do
But if she feels bad then I do too
So I let her be
And she says oooh
I can't take no more
Her tears like diamonds on the floor
And her diamonds bring me down
Cuz I can't help her now
She’s down in it
She tried her best and now she can't win it's
Hard to see them on the ground
Her diamonds falling down
She sits down and stares into the distance
And it takes all night
And I know I could break her concentration
But it don't feel right
By the light of the moon
She rubs her eyes
Sits down on the bed and starts to cry
And there's something less about her
And I don't know what I’m supposed to do
So I sit down and I cry too
And don't let her see
And she says oooh
I can't take no more
Her tears like diamonds on the floor
And her diamonds bring me down
Cuz I can't help her now
She’s down in it
She tried her best and now she can't win it's
Hard to see them on the ground
Her diamonds falling down
She shuts out the night
Tries to close her eyes
If she can find daylight
She’ll be all right
She’ll be all right
Just not tonight
And she says oooh
I can't take no more
Her tears like diamonds on the floor
And her diamonds bring me down
Cuz I can't help her now
She’s down in it
She tried her best and now she can't win it's
Hard to see them on the ground
Her diamonds falling down

A bonus second photo for the week! My mom is a big Matchbox Twenty fan and she had an extra ticket for the show when they came to town on Saturday night. She invited me to go with! It was a great show!

Just one shot before I hit the sack from tonight's Matchbox Twenty gig.
American pop-rockers Matchbox Twenty made their live return in London playing their first show in over a year and their first UK show since 2008.
A warm-up show in preparation for their iTunes festival headline slot at the Roundhouse the following night, the boys played a long set encompassing all their hits, some rarely heard older tracks as well as a few tunes from their new release North.
At this point in the set, lead singer Rob Thomas saw me snapping away and stared down my lens while I carried on snapping, top lad!
Night folks!
Clip from Music Video for “Smooth”.
"Smooth" is a collaboration between Latin rock band Santana and Rob Thomas of the rock group Matchbox Twenty. The song was written by Thomas and Itaal Shur, sung by Thomas, produced by Matt Serletic… became a massive hit in 1999… It was the first chart-topping song in Carlos Santana's long-running career (his previous biggest hit being "Black Magic Woman", which peaked at number four in 1971).
On Billboard magazine's rankings of the top songs of the first 50 years of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, "Smooth" was ranked as the number-two song overall (behind only "The Twist) and the number-one rock song in the history of the chart.
"And if you said this life ain't good enough
I would give my world to lift you up
I could change my life to better suit your mood
'Cause you're so smooth
And it's just like the ocean under the moon
Well that's the same as the emotion that I get from you
You got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth, yeah
Gimme your heart make it real
Or else forget about it"

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Taste of Chicago 2010, Chicago's biggest event and the world's largest outdoor food fest. Beginning on the Fourth of July in 1980— when it was called Chicago Fest and took place closer to Navy Pier—as a modest food festival, the 10-day event attracts upwards of 3 million people each year,
Besides serving up more than 300 menu items from over 70 restaurants and food vendors, the Taste’s next most popular attraction in the free music entertainment. Main acts performing at the Petrillo Music Shell include Gavin Rossdale, Trey Songz, Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Salt-n-Pepa; Rob Thomas, Rob Base, Steve Miller Band, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Emily Osment, Los Lonely Boys, Los Lobos, Brett Dennen, Mat Kearney, and Bell Biv Devoe.
For Rossdale’s set, wife Gwen Stefani and the couple’s two sons were watching stage side as Gavin Rossdale perform at the annual Taste of Chicago.
Their youngest son, Zuma, being held by a nanny, was crying and tried to break away twice to go to Gavin while he was performing, while Kingston went between sitting on his mother’s lap and being kept preoccupied with a colorful slinky by his nanny.
