Oxford Bus Museum & Morris Motors Museum
The museum tells the story of bus and coach travel around Oxfordshire over the last 130 years. The exhibits include a historic preserved horse-drawn tram, motor buses, coaches and a wide selection of artefacts including bus stops, ticket machines, timetables, posters and staff uniforms.
Since 2004 the museum has also been home to the Morris Motors Museum, which charts the story of how these classic British cars and commercial vehicles were produced at Cowley in Oxford.
The link between William Morris founder of Morris Motors (who later became Lord Nuffield) and buses in Oxford, can be traced to 1913 when he and a partner started the first motorbus service in the city.

The AA erected more than 30,000 of these village signs between 1906 and 1939. After 1939 it became the responsibility of local authorities to erect directional signs.
They are a rare sight these days but a few still do exist in their original locations.
The vast majority of the signs that remain are now in private collections or museums.
These cool Ram 5500's belong to United Towing of Livermore. I photographed these recovery trucks and dozens more in October at the California Tow Truck Association's annual parade to raise awareness of the state Move Over Law. Be sure to slow down and move over for tow trucks & other emergency vehicles providing assistance alongside our busy roads or highways. Seen here in 2014 preparing to tow the disabled 2002 Lincoln Continental that I used to own. This was on a dangerous portion of I5 with virtually no shoulder near Yreka. If you see a tow truck or emergency vehicle on the side of the road with lights flashing be sure to slow down and move over.
This classic light duty recovery truck is a 1983-1986 Chevrolet C/K Series K30 or a 1987-1988 Chevy R/V Series V30. I photographed this California style tow truck in Olympia, WA a few years ago. This repair shop is now out of business.
Bad Tyre Day
The result of a blowout whilst travelling at 60 mph.
It takes a few seconds to comprehend what has happened, to bring the car to a standstill, and to get it clear of the carriageway. In this few seconds this is what happens to the tyre.
The wheel is too heavy for me to change so using the excellent AA iPhone App I called the AA to assist me. From the App they knew my location and attended in just 15 minutes.
I was back on the road in 35 minutes from my initial call..
Amazing service from an excellent organisation.

Continental 265/35R18 97Y SPT3 MO
The first three digits '265' indicate the width of the tyre in millimetres.
The fourth and fifth digits indicate the profile height of the tyre which is expressed as a percentage of the tyre width. In this case '35' means that the profile height of the tyre is 35% of its width.
The letter 'R' indicate that this is a Radial tyre.
The next two digits represent the size of the wheel rim. In this case '18' will fit on a 18-inch wheel rim.
The next two digits represent the weight load. In this case '97' which equates to 730 kg per tyre.
The next digit indicates the safe speed of the tyre. In this case "Y' which equates to 186 mph.
SPT3 indicates that this os a Sport rated tyre with better roadholding in bends and three metres shorter braking distance on wet roads.
The final two letters 'MO' indicate that this is a Mercedes only tyre.
Continental tyres are among the highest performing currently available and offer excellent grip and handling in both wet and dry conditions.
This has made them popular standard-fit equipment on a variety of sports and high performance cars.

It was afternoon drive time on N McDowell Blvd when a Police Officer from Petaluma spotted a non working Ford truck on the crowded street.
The quick thinking Officer driving Cruiser 96 averted a traffic jam, by pushing the Dodge truck off McDowell Blvd, onto South Point Blvd.
Here is one of Palace Garage's cabover engine wreckers with their signature attention getting arrow turn signal panels all lit up.
Who knows what's got this lowboy stalled on the shoulder; try to give her some space as you pass.
