The Anja reserve is home to the highest concentration of maki, or ring-tailed lemurs, in all of Madagascar, numbering over 300. After finding that 95% of makis in Madagascar are now gone, the locals initiated the formation of a nature reserve, effectively establishing the world's largest congregation site for ring-tailed lemurs.
Ring-tailed lemurs find safety in numbers and often huddle together, which is a blessing for photographers!

The girls are certainly to a manner born. i recently traced their pedigrees back to pre-1900. They come from a long line of show Poodles. If I didn't know better, I'd guess that they were whelped on a grooming table!

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Eastbound Union Pacific under a ring of clouds. I waited a long time for this train. In the large view, you can see the headlights of another eastbound. I was hoping to catch a train while these clouds were still above head like they were. It was worth the wait.
Have a great week everyone :-)
Also known as Ring-Necked Parakeets. These very noisy birds can be heard in parks and wooded areas, all over London.
Although the largest populations are in southeast England, they can be found in various areas around the UK.
Some of the more interesting theories about where they came from, are that they escaped from the film set of Ealing Studios during filming of the African Queen. (1951)
This was filmed at Worton Hall Studios, in Isleworth southwest London, and Starred Katherine Hepburn & Humphrey Bogart.

These rings, designed and created by Xavier Karsin, are not just rings. They are generosity, love, sacrifice and patience beyond measure.
Always my more-than.
On this gloomy 12 degree day. A few Ring-billed Gulls decided to relax on the snow covered ice at Peace Valley Park, Doylestown Pa.
Blue-ringed octopuses, comprising the genus Hapalochlaena, are four extremely venomous species of octopus that are found in tide pools and coral reefs in the Pacific and Indian oceans, from Japan to Australia. They can be identified by their yellowish skin and characteristic blue and black rings that can change color dramatically when the animal is threatened. They eat small crustaceans, including crabs, hermit crabs, shrimp, and other small sea animals.
They are one of the world's most venomous marine animals. Despite their small size—12 to 20 cm (5 to 8 in)—and relatively docile nature, they are very dangerous if provoked when handled because their venom contains a powerful neurotoxin called tetrodotoxin.
The species tends to have a lifespan of approximately two to three years. This may vary depending on factors such as nutrition, temperature, and the intensity of light within its environment. (Wikipedia)

This bird surprised me as he came into my back yard to browse for sunflower seeds underneath my feeder. I noticed he was banded too. I have never seen a banded pheasant before.
Here's a more face-on view of a Ring Ouzel I photographed not far from home a couple of weeks ago. Ring Ouzels are the upland counterpart of Blackbird. Apart from the gorget (neck crescent) Ring Ouzels also have silvery edgings to the flight feathers creating a pale wing panel, visible here. If you look closely at the flanks you can also see pale edgings to the body feathers, looking like the bird is wrapped in a pale hairnet. The songs and calls are different too. Unlike the Blackbird's rich, fluty song, Ring Ouzel has a rather flat, repeated whistle. They also make a harsh chacking noise. Unlike our resident Blackbirds, Ring Ouzels spend the winter in the Atlas Mountains of North Africa where they feed on Phoenician Juniper berries. For completeness I should say that Britain receives large numbers of Blackbirds from Scandinavia each winter, even though ours are largely resident. And a very small number of Ring Ouzels will spend the winter in Britain.
The Ring-necked Pheasant is not the smartest bird in the wild, it is amazing that they have not all been killed off by traffic. I had to stop twice to let this bird run back and forth on the road. Any normal vehicle would have run it down. Fortunately I managed to herd it across the road into a blueberry field.
